Terrible place to work! Company does not care about their employees!
WellStar is a terrible place to work! They treat their employees inhumanely, violate their own policies, violate the law and care only about saving themselves money at all costs. I began working at WellStar in 2013 and resigned 7 ½ months later in 2014. 1.One thing that WellStar doesn’t tell you during the interview is that you will not be able to use PTO until after 6 months of employment. So that means no sick leave, vacation leave, personal leave etc. To make matters worse at my 6 month mark Wellstar went against its’ policy and forbid employees from using PTO for an additional 2 months (February 19-April 19). Their excuse for not allowing employees to use PTO was due to the April 7th implementation of a new Electronic Medical record system. The training for this system only lasted a couple of days by the way. 2.In January and February of this year Georgia’s governor declared Georgia in a state of Emergency due to inclement weather. The roads were dangerously icy and most businesses and government offices were closed. It was impossible to get to work due to Georgia’s lack of snow/ice equipment to adequately treat the interstates let alone the local roadways. By that point I had been an employee for 5 months. WellStar refused to pay me, and all other exempt employees who couldn’t make it to work and had been with the company less than 6 months, for those inclement weather days. 3.In March I submitted my 2 week resignation. Unfortunately during my resignation period I be

Absurd lack of communication and terrible management, HR and
I was offered a job at Wellstar and completed all orientation tasks as required. I had two days of orientation (you have more if your role is clinical) which I also completed. On both of these days I was supposed to be paid for 8 hours of work, so I should've been paid for 16 hours total. My manager had yet to contact me, and I also didn't know their name. I had to email 5 people -- yes, 5 different individuals -- and still was unable to receive any information. 4 of the 5, who were all involved in my onboarding process, did not even reply. I waited a few weeks as I figured my manager would contact me with my start date. I'd done everything I possibly could short of showing up and asking about my start date. Things came to a head when I was not paid for orientation. Now mind you, I was never contacted about the offer after my acceptance so it was still on the table. I was cleared to attend orientation, so I know I did everything I needed to do. Payday rolled around and I didn't receive compensation. I contacted payroll and was told to contact my manager as they hadn't put me into the system. I explained that I was unable to do so as well as the fact that I didn't even know their name. There was nothing else payroll could do. At this point, I decided to resign. Wellstar does not uphold its mission or values and I would not recommend them to anyone, whether as a place to work or a place to seek treatment. My HR rep -- who up until my resignation had ignored me -- decided the

Challenging and learning experience
Since I was hired at South Cobb OBGYN (Wellstar) in 2004, I have been given many challenging positions. I grew within South Cobb from Check-in/Registration to the Billing Supervisor. I have learned to use multiple computer programs, and have had the ability to share my knowledge with fellow coworkers whether teaching them how to use certain functions, or troubleshooting issue with the system. Along with this responsiblity I manage the billing staff, and represent the other OB practices within Wellstar when dealing with the Central Billing office. I work many reports on a daily bases that monitor our Aging Reports, Unbilled claims, Claims Edits, Paper media, and Unapplied, along with Credit report for refunds. Even though their is not much diversity among my immediate coworkers there is diversity among the staff at South Cobb OB as a whole. I enjoy working with them, and the challenges I have faced in managing the billing staff. I have grown as a leader and the results showing in the cohesiveness of the billing department and the increase in productivity from not just managing billing for South Cobb, but also another practice within Wellstar that was falling to meet is monthly financial goals. The hardest part of my position seems to be finding the balance between caring for my staff, and motiviating them to produce the results upper management requires, even when you don't fully understand or agree with these requirements. In the same hand though it has become one of the mo

Unethical and unsafe.
I worked at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, GA for a little over 5 years. I was hired to educate new techniciand in the cardiac cath lab to performe coronary interventions such as angioplasty and coronary stenting among others.I served numerous roles, as a lead tech, clinical educator, and floor coordinator. During my 5+ years at this horrible facility i saw things like you can't imagine. There are electrical cords all over the floor in the procedure rooms were many people have trippeed got injured, yet they never repair the problem. I was one of thgose who fell, injuring my right elbow keeping me out of work for a week. They use the call team, "which is only for emergencies" to do schedule cases while true emergencies have to wait. I witness a death of a patient in the ER as he waited for the call team to finish an schedule case. You will have no breaks and lunch, if you are lucky, you may get 20 minutes at best. No managment either, so everyone thinks that they are in charged. In other words, to many cheif and no enough indians. Racial remarks and comment are an everyday occation and small clicks among sertain staff members makes for a misarable work enviroment. I resigned after 5+ years of solid service, I could not tolerated it any more but what really did it for me was getting squirted with a 60cc syringe full of blood by a phisician during a Pericardium sentisis at point blanck range. I had blood in my eyes, nose, aprom, ears and a nurse which was helping in the case g

We are the eyes and ears of this institution my friend
A typical day working as a hospital operator can be fun, challenging, hectic, yet rewarding. Any information from IV and respritory line-ups to what's on the menu in the cafeteria is obtained and updated within my department. As well as providing updated info for the nurses we also provide patient location and discharge information to our guests. Transfering calls and providing current information is only half of it. When a patient is coding or when there is a fire alarm in the hospital we are the first ones to page overhead of the PLAN or CODE in effect. Main thing I have learned other than how to providing excellent customer service, is simply what every department in the hospital does. My supervisor does not micro manage. They make certain that we have the tools and equipment to do our job effectively and help every employee provide the same level excellence. Overall my coworkers are a fun and supportive group to work with. We all share the same goal to simply do our part in providing world class healthcare. The hardest part of the job is just being on top of all the updates and line-up changes through out the day. Luckily this stuff becomes second nature and it needs to be. In a job where seconds count, providing wrong or inaccurate information to nurses or physicians can literally mean life or death. As for what I find most enjoyable; the little things that make a visit or stay at our hospital more enjoyable for our guests. And its always the most simplest requests like

Practice Manager worked two locations, specimen collection cabinet pass through door at my desk! Where is the rest of the medical equipment??
New employee start up for a new location was a nightmare. New office location (a new WellStar family medical office location) didn't have experienced staff in place or triage equipment. Manual blood pressures, bring your own stethoscope, one huge pulse ox reader for all rooms, LPN just out of technical school, front desk staff newly hired. Obviously, WellStar couldn't or wouldn't promote from within to have had at least a CMA or LPN already familiar with how their "provider offices" would "normally" operate (not a Grand Opening location). I was shocked that this new WellStar family practice location didn't even have the "kinks" worked out with their newly opened office space, new equipment (some non-existent or not yet installed), a practice manager without an RN background and who was out of the office for personal issues or at the "other" location, all during the first month of employment at this struggling to get off the ground WellStar location. This WellStar location hired a new CMA grad and new LPN grad for their first jobs after being certified/licensed, pay is super low vs market value for new CMA, and PTO benefits poor as any bad weather closing of office, or office closing due to provider on vacation, comes out of your PTO, but only after you wait six months to be eligible to use your PTO time. Benefits don't start until 60 days after start date.
ProsMay be able to float to other nearby offices
ConsPay, PTO only after 6 months, use PTO if office closes for bad weather or provider on vacation

Compassionate, fun and great place to work.
I have worked at Wellstar for the past 5 Years as an ER Tech. I love working there now. I work in the ER, so a typical day is very busy, never know what you're going to get. It's very fast past. I love working with the other employees there. We have a family culture. I have learned a lot at Wellstar and I thank them for the opportunity to work in such a great facility, to learn and improved my health care skills and be much more sensitive to the patients that we serve. Management at Wellstar in the beginning, were not very strong at what they do, but I have seen them improved and try their best to make a difference in the lives of their employees by being more involved in what we do on the floor as well as in our personal lives. The Management now that we have, are amazing. They listen and work with you. I have seen a complete 360 at Wellstar and I love it. I am happy to still be part of this amazing company that, keeps on growing and improving and saving people's lives. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone that truly cares about people all around. My co workers are amazing, they support you and it is a family culture with the people you come to know, and work with all the time. It's not easy and happy everyday, but if you remember why you are there, and the reasons are, to care for other people genuinely , then Wellstar is for you!

Mean Girls Club
The culture is very toxic. Manager and director tell you to give good score on the annual great places to work at survey. It is an old boys' club and if you are not one of them you will be ousted. One director is very lazy and often is not at work but running errands, she barely does any work and is too slow. Other director is very conniving, scheming, proactively encourages department employees to tell on each other and get each other in trouble. She creates division within the department and this is reflective of the entire corporation. She barely does any work as well and makes nurse practitioners do all the work for her. There is Indian people favoritism. Providers are emasculated. Manager is very emotional and brings her personal problems to work. She frequently burst into tears which makes employees uncomfortable, unease and hesitant to approach her. We all are simply trying to survive and this lady makes the environment even worse. Management is despotic. There is absolutely no loyalty to employees. You get written up for the slightest thing if you are not the boss's pet. Kennestone started medical residencies programs for the wrong reasons - to get money from Medicare. There is absolutely no faculty professional development, some attending doctors are very unprofessional and even cuss. Residents are there for the work and to get scutted. Education is lacking.
Prosthere are some good workers there

Do not work here!!
I worked for Wellstar for over a year! I have 5+ experience in the field and was paid poorly! I was told overtime and better opportunity for pay was optional that was a lie! To be honest I would have been better off working at racetrac or quicktrip I know for a fact they were being paid more than me. The working conditions were horrible the site would see up to 180+ patients a days and barely received a break. When I asked about a break or even a water break I was denied and told we have patients waiting while “the lead” sat and eat Popeyes chicken and talks on the phone and better yet go run personal errands while on the clock! It was to the point where we were timed to go to the rest room and that was eventually limited. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Management is ridiculous they all are friends and you can not tell anything in confidence or it will get back and you would be treated differently with absolutely not breaks. This place was so stressed that I left with chest pains and back aches. With constantly standing on our feet for hours and told we need to speed up I really felt like it was a modern day sweat shop. Everyday when I turn into work I contemplate about going in and realize that I have a child at home that I could barely feed with the pay that was given to me and the lies that were feed to me I was promised over time and more money and never received it.

It depends on the facility and department. My facility is frequently short staffed and poorly managed. The morale is low, but people are friendly. Everyone is there doing their time until its time to clock out.
