Summary: The Tahirih Justice Center seeks a full-time Human Resources Generalist to support a variety of human resources functions with a particular emphasis on recruiting and people operations. The HR Generalist will work in partnership with the Human Resources team and hiring managers to implement equitable and inclusive processes that attract, identify and hire a qualified diverse applicant pool. Additionally, this role will support processes and systems that promote a positive and productive environment for all employees. The HR Generalist will report to the Director of Human Resources. This is a hybrid role with some remote and some in-person work required. In person work may be completed from any one of our five office locations (Falls Church, VA; Atlanta, GA; Houston, TX; San Bruno, CA; or Baltimore, MD).
Primary Responsibilities
Recruiting
- In partnership with the human resources team and hiring managers, use an equity lens to enhance and oversee Tahirih’s recruiting and onboarding program to identify, attract and hire a diverse pool of candidates for open employee positions in a timely manner.
- Source candidates through active recruitment strategies including the use of social media.
- Develop partnerships with affinity groups, universities and other relevant organizations to build Tahirih’s network leading to a robust and diverse pool for all open positions.
- Partner with hiring managers in following Tahirih’s hiring practices, developing job announcements, identifying core competencies and evaluating candidates with an eye to diversity, equity and inclusion.
- Develop and maintain materials associated with equitable recruiting, hiring and onboarding including process maps, guides and other resources for hiring managers.
- Support and train employees on hiring-related best practices and other human resources topics as needed.
- Maintain current knowledge of best practices and relevant laws related to talent acquisition and development.
People Operations
- Oversee the implementation and continued development of Tahirih’s internship program
- Serve as the functional own of Tahirih’s HRIS and performance management systems ensuring effective implementation and optimization in support of broader HR Goals.
- Support the implementation of Tahirih’s Equity Framework (guiding document on diversity, equity and inclusion) through leading and/or serving as a member of working teams on HR related projects
- Support other organization-wide HR initiatives as needed including but not limited to performance management, wellness programing and training.
. Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
- Three to five years of human resources or related experience
- Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to build rapport with a diverse group of individuals
- Ability to apply an equity lens to human resources practice and a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
- Customer service orientation and a capacity to develop creative solutions to meet internal and external customer needs
- Strong business communication skills, both verbal and written
- Detail orientation and well-developed organizational skills
- Ability to work alternate hours when needed to recruit for positions and support staff in the Central and Pacific time zones
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience working in a nonprofit environment
- Experience with Paylocity or similar HRIS
- Proficiency in data-based decision making
- Experience developing equitable recruitment practices that promote a diverse candidate pool
- SHRM-CP or PHR certification
Annual salary and benefits: The salary range for this position is $75-000 –$85,000and will be commensurate to experience and qualifications. Generous benefits include employee and dependent health, vision and dental insurance (Tahirih pays 100% of the premium for employees and 60% for dependents); a 401(k) defined contribution retirement plan; flexible work schedules; professional development including in-house training programs, staff enrichment retreats and other growth opportunities.
