Overall Reviews at Schlumberger

Good company
Slb was a good company treated me right and management cared about everyone of us. Only negative thing is the layoffs but that comes with the nature of the business

Great job but no home life
Great company to work for. Great benefits package. However, no home life balance. Work is 70 hours or more a week. Working there I learned that teamwork is extremely important.

The company as a whole and a bad culture
To put it quite simply, for my last four years, I had three managers telling me to do three different things everyday. The good days were when my three managers asked me for the same thing three different times in a day.
ProsEvery now and then you'll get a free lunch
ConsCulture, Management, and and absolutely no Job work balance

No raises despite learning more and more equipment.
There were promises of raises and bonuses. However, after learning most frac equipment on site, raises in pay did not follow. I'm sure it depends on the supervisor.
They also limit those who can receive bonuses. If they prevent you from advancing they can keep you at a lot low level despite running multiple key pieces of equipment and being a true asset on the crew. Promises that were unkept were the major drawback.
ProsEquipment
ConsAfter learning equipment, raises never followed.

Production and hardwork place
I learned to work with people of a different culture, practiced hard work, everything was very challenging but I progressed normally in term of career and achievement

It is a good place to work
It is an okay place to work. Once you are established, time flies by. Once it gets slow, be very careful as you may be laid off. It is a business after all .

Great Company to Work for
I felt proud of working in the leader oil and gas service company. I worked with the latest technologies and with the best clients. I fully recommend working at Schlumberger.

Fast pace with smart people
I have been in R&D most of the time spent in Schlumberger. They have really smart people working there but that could be the reason the work environment can be very competitive and cutthroat. Not necessary you can be rewarded. But for sure before going to any other company, this company can provide a good foundation of work in general and well percieved to be a good employee by major O&G companies.

Great pay, terrible managment
Worked with Schlumberger for 10 years and the last 5 were a lot of ups and downs due to business conditions as well as management choices. The compensation was good until the last year; it was during the Covid-19 issue and chained a reaction to a big reduction in the industry. This caused the company to make some very fast and drastic changes in how things were being done. Starting with layoffs, then pay cuts, then more layoffs. Several good employees with loads of experience were released just to make the numbers work. Time will tell if they made the right choice.
ProsGood pay, decent benefits
ConsManagment, High and low industry

Good workplace condition. Long, difficult and very interesting way up on career stairs.
1 - Work day: nothing special, depend on current job activities on the rig site;
2 - I learned a lot of information about well construction operations;
3 - management - 50%/50% :)
4 - Workplace culture: stay safe anywhere anytime;
5 - hardest part - making decision and face consequences, like everywhere I think;
6 - the most enjoyable part of the job: when all is working good and my crew (or students) know their job, making it good and in time. Getting positive feedbacks from management or client representative on the rig site. And the way back home of course :)

Productive work place
One of the major attractions was the training culture which provided the basis for the organization success over the years. Emphasis was placed on this, both in training schools and on the jobs. The work environment was well conditioned for appropriate mix of multicultural backgrounds, and the experience of working well with others whose culture were different from mine was quite helpful. The management response to issues and commitment to promoting a healthy work environment helped to drive the best in the staff, and hence higher productivity.
ProsRegular training schedules
ConsLong hours
