This was a great company to work for but I believe they are out of business at this point. My manager was awesome and I thrived in this environment, I'm grateful.

Great people, but rough company
Worked there for nearly 5 years as a part time employee. Was a first job that I stuck with as I was able to advance far without becoming full time. However, as I gained significantly more responsibility, I was paid $0 more. Raises are based solely on hours. Raised hourly pay to what was above minimum wage to minimum wage as it increased so that after 5 years, was making as much as the 1st day person. Over my 5 years, every manager changed at least twice and their styes varied greatly. Job itself was very easy.
Pros:
Most of my coworkers were awesome.
Able to advance if willing to work
Most recent manger was amazing
Cons:
Terrible pay
Longest term manger was rude and condescending
Customers are very rude in the area
Overall it is a good job and good place to work but the inexperienced management makes what would be an easy job into a stress filled mess. With zero workplace training on how to do my job the first month was a struggle and I relied heavily on my coworkers for support. Great co-workers and I built many strong bonds just the management is bad.
Too much work not enough staff or time to get it done.
You are on a time crunch, run, run, run, just to get your work done. You are lucky if you can take a breath.
Management in this company likes to threaten it's full-time employees. The workplace culture is almost criminal by the way they protect their managers. The hardest part of the job is getting everything done before your shift is done. Working till 10 pm and opening at 8pm the next morning and then repeating that for the next two shifts.
A clean environment with friendly customers and helpful co-workers. It has been some years since I was employed there, so I am not a good judge of the current working conditions for employees there.
The atmosphere is great, hours are flexible, and most of the managers do an excellent job. I really enjoyed coming in to work as time would fly by because you're always productive.
Prosfree food in lunchroom, 3 breaks throughout the day
Although I did not work there long it was a good working with room to grow not enough workers sometimes but however is there was a great place to work great employees and coworkers
Store closing. It was ok to work for. A lot of corporate involvement. They pay managers well but do not keep supporting staff long. They have some nice insensitives
I worked in save on food, in bakery section as a staff. I washed the dishes, I cleaned the surfaces, and I used sanitizer. And also pack breads and cookies, cakes, and I was in touch with costumers.
Save-on-Foods is a good place to work with good opportunity for advancement. They offer competitive wages, great benefits, and a friendly atmosphere. My co-workers were good to work with, and several became good friends.
Staff was very nice, easy to make friends and everyone is helpful! I decided leave because it was just time for me to go and move on to better things :)

Save on Foods
I always showed up 10 minutes before my shift when working on the cash register to make sure I had enough bags, receipt paper as well as any other stock up required for my shift.Serving each and every customer with the respect that they all deserve and helping them either find or return an item was one of my duties. Customer service desk I was responsible for the lottery as well as complaints and returns or mistakes on the receipt. Price change Department I was responsible for printing and hanging all new price tags for the weekly flyer sales as well as special sale prices for each and every department.
This is one of the few places of employment left that you can be hired for an entry level position and be trained for a career. Promotions and training take place within the company for the most part. No matter what job you are hired for, hard work and service can turn into management in time.
ProsIn house promotion and training
ConsNot all promotions keep you in the same location
Its almost minimum wage, 1$ above. No guaranteed hours. They do shift changes so you regularly have to check to see if yours changed. Little flexibility on taking days off outside of your regular availability.
ProsProduce department is quiet and fun.
ConsNot stable income by any means

Great place for Advancement & Learning
I have been working with uniformed guard program for a great length of time now. I am impressed by the uniform, equal treatment, very adequate training to perform my job successfully, and with how there always room for learning. Save on Security (Kelowna) has a good team of quality guards who try their best and display a high level of customer service and professionalism.
To get in with this team and with Save On Foods was one of the best decisions I’ve made in my job career so far. Resource protection is very understanding of personal matters as well, and takes care of their employees.
I will always recommend to work for them.
ProsGood training, equality, constructive feedback, opportunities to learn, advancement
I loved working at Save on foods as i developed strong relationships with coworkers, supervisors and even customers. The way it worked was that it was a unit, If i was done my wheeler or my deck in stocking and i saw my coworker struggling and falling behind i gladly helped him or her finish as they would do the same for me. There was times when i worked for free for a few hours and stayed late to help out fellow employees. We give to the customer and all of us strongly believed that the customer should get what they want even if that meant losing money on a transaction. I never really ran out of energy because the whole work place is very sociable and the people i worked with were great. It really wasn't work and I often miss working there.
treated you fare atmosphere good fellow staff good natured

Canadian company
Serviced customers' in deli; ensured all logs were kept up to date in terms of temperatures; took orders; built cross sales of all departments, cleaned deli, work with to staff members; created deli orders solo and with the team when necessary; worked frozen and fresh orders and trained staff. Unionized and Save on Staff always go beyond to help out. Deli is one of the most labor-intensive departments. I enjoyed working with all levels of the company and team mates as well. There is always something we can learn from someone, and you can take it with you to the next company.
ProsPension
ConsSales dedicate your hours. Only 3 main levels get most hours
I'm going to be be brutally honest here, reviewing my just-over-a-year experience of working at the Salmon Arm location: Store #975
I have been working at this location since December 2017, and took a break during July and August of 2018 to work at another job (with better compensation) so I cannot comment on the summertime experience, though co-workers said that it's hectically busy. I am about a month away from dwindling my full-time position down to about 8 hours per week, so I can give a general insight to working at this particular location.
I was trained on cash, produce, grocery, and deli;
Cash: Repetitive as always, and your attitude and how you're feeling that day will make or break it. The people in Salmon Arm are friendly, and seldom have I ever gotten a rude customer. You must be able to push their rudeness aside when it happens, and talk it out with the next few customers who will laugh along at that person's atrocity. Most cashiers are very nice people, but there's those who've been with the company for many years who feel entitled to push you around and order you to do whatever they want. Often times, there's a cashier who will phone the "runaround" person to do stuff like collect baskets - even on a busy day - while they're "busy" (slowly) re-filling the till-side chocolates and other last-minute decisions, or gathering around the customer service desk to chat with people.
Grocery: stocking shelves and facing them, sorting out the mass amounts o
ProsJobs themselves aren't bad, you move around a lot (exercise) and the people are generally good
ConsAbysmal compensation, hypocritical co-workers, back-talking and backstabbing
