Overall Reviews at Saks Fifth Avenue

tough
Saks was a tough job because you are on a commission structure and there is not much clientele. My manager was wonderful, but upper management was uncaring of their employees

Never know if your getting laid off
work, meeting, work, meeting about last meeting, work, who should be let go next, most enjoyable part were the associates. I learned about computer programs through their learning program.

very demanding
Management sometimes set unrealistic goals for the employees. The transfer process is almost nonexistent. Worked with the company for a while and asked to be transferred to a closer location to my residence and got no assistance and was denied a transfer.

Good company, but tends to let things fall through the cracks
Saks Fifth Avenue is a great place to work if you enjoy a slow paced work environment and competitive commission sales. A typical day at work would include checking stock inventory, cold calling clients about promotions and events, approaching clients with the intent to sell them something, maintaining contact with Account Executives, and maintaining cleanliness of the area. I leaned that building client relationships will either make or break your business. At Saks, sales are purely relationship driven. If you don't have loyal clients, you don't have good sales. My co-workers were the best friends I have ever had. I loved them with my whole heart! The hardest part of the job was dealing with the management's expectation to still meet sales goals on dead days when we had zero traffic in the store, but the most enjoyable part of the job was talking to clients and taking care of their needs.

Its Avery good place to work
I'm happy at Saks at the moment. the pay is low and I wish they would get rids the commission policy in New Orleans. commission verses draw is killing my checks. most of my commission earned got to a draw based on your hourly wages.

good for college students
Flexible schedule is good for college kids, aside from that I wouldn't recommend this place. Too negative and toxic of an environment. Not just because of management and associates but customers play a big role in this too.
