Great place to work
RBS was a great place to work until they decided to downsize. The culture was good and people respected each other. After the downsizing in 2016, you just watched as your friends left one by one.

Management was reactionary somewhat informative but there were many in the know and a sense of secrecy among upper management.
The culture was open and diverse despite its more formal British origins,
getting things done across divisions, departments or functions can be difficult . Meeting deadlines with increasing demands for more information was a challenge. Social events were always fun.

Very professional, highly driven, fast paced work environment
RBS afforded me the opportunity to be exposed to many different opportunities through their "promote from with-in" philosophy. Through frequent involvement with many divisions of the company I was able to enhance my knowledge in the banking industry in sales, operations and finance management. The colleagues at the bank were true team players when it came to project management and resource driven initiatives.

Was a trade floor environment so very quick paced but also very demanding. Enjoyable place to work due to the people who are there. They have a focused plan of where they are going in the future.

A nice place to work
There was a gym in the building. I enjoyed the gym classes. The shower room was very clean and tidy. In that year I left RBS, around 8 teams participated the RBS cricket game. Our team got the champion. I never forgot that summer.

Management
The team I worked with was a satellite office, reporting to a management team in the UK and in Connecticut. The work conditions were terrible, with crowded tables of computers, people and telephones piled on top of each other.
Ultimately, the management looked more concerned to show "short term" improvement, rather than considering what was best for the company and its employees and shareholders.

Good place
Good progression can be made within the Bank and the pay is also good. Management also motivate you to do well. The only bad thing is that it is a very competitive environment so it depends on whether that works for you as an individual.

Not a nice place to work
You will be a cog in wheel. A very negative/blame culture operates here. Management do not really care. You need to be extroverted and have a loud voice to be heard otherwise they will just ignore you
