Fiber Yard Supervisor the worst I've ever incountered
When I started, I had to drive to valpo Indiana from wapak Ohio. 3.5 hours one way. They paid for the hotel and expected you to eat cold sandwich meals they provided you only for lunch. No meal allowance and you pay for your gas, later you turn in millage, but they make you return home for the weekend and drive back every week. While in Valpo our Fiber Yard Supervisor took us 2 out to dinner yo get to know us better. He stated he does not fraternize with his employee's yet after dinner asked me to join him in his hotel room for drinks on his patio. I didn't go, buy this was really unprofessional. During dinner, he actually encouraged my 19 year old coworker to order alcohol and if carded just to state that he left this in his hotel room. Our trip and training was cut short the next day. After returning back to Ohio, I got with HR about their educational pay. When I mentioned this to my supervisor, he got angry with me, said I went over his head. After that it was awful. My supervisor would take any idea and shoot it down making me look stupid in front of my coworkers with snide remarks. He would have my coworkers attack me and tell me how to do my job. He would verbally attack other coworkers and say it was constructive criticism. With no advice ever on how to correct things, just how poorly things were. He is also having a very visible unprofessional and inappropriate relationship with the scale house supervisor. Even her own employees admitted that they saw this go

Work isn't bad, but you aren't valued.
The plant manager is a micromanaging tyrant. He even tries to control the way trailers are managed in the yard... which is completely out of his chain of command. The logistics manager is a nice guy, but a complete pushover who will do anything the plant manager says regardless what the drivers might say. The work isn't bad. If you've been a yard jockey before, you know what to expect. The equipment is also about what you'd expect, always broken. Plan on working every Saturday. I was told when I interviewed that they worked "a lot" of Saturdays. I was there three months and only had two Saturdays off. Management isn't smart enough to figure out they need to switch to a 24/7 schedule. Production works 24/7 a lot, drivers get Sunday off to get the 34-hr reset. They could easily run four 12-hr shifts like so many companies do. You can't trust your coworkers. The dayshift guy acted like we were buddies, but I caught him talking about me behind my back. The third shift guy was just a schoolyard bully. Like all bullies, he thought he was The Man, but ran and hid behind his mommy's skirt the instant I pushed back. No kidding, he harassed me for weeks... when I finally got fed up and said something back to him, he complained I was creating a hostile work environment and I was fired immediately. He's a low-life snake, a worthless human being. If you take the job, don't trust him. I actually consulted with a lawyer about my termination. While I didn't have enough of a case

Stressful, frustrating and difficult
I would not recommend this company. Management is unorganized. I started a couple of months ago as a temp on 2nd shift. They talked about a big hire to permanent as they just got a HR manager to help facilitate the slow hiring process that had been the norm. Then in a meeting today they said the company was consolidating and doing away with 2nd shift. They would now operate with one shift, being 1st. Management had to know this was going to be forecasted a couple months ago. They talk a good game, but it ended in a lie. Just to get production numbers up before the big "kick you to the curb." Right before Christmas. Very disappointing. It is an okay place to work everyone does seem to get along, most of the time a bit too much. Too much chit chat about personal stuff with the younger quality team especially. Which slows down the staging process in shipping. Supervisor's are a part of the problem as well as they participate in idle chit chat and laughing. Very frustrating when you are trying to do your job well and have a seasoned work ethic. There technology and warehouse engineering have a lot to be desired. Scanner's are poor functioning and not updated to a functioning level to produce increased productivety, the rollers the palletized completed orders come down are mangled and makes it very difficult to lift them of the line. In addition there labels on the pallets are not legible in order to see clearly what city they are going to. The staging dock is a mess. Forklif

Overall great company to work for
I believe that the rating of most reviews it’s not very accurate for each employer based on the specific job title you have. This is also based on the location you work for whether or not they are a part of a union or not. This would definitely have an impact on salary and benefits. What is pretty consistent across the board here is the work schedule and hours. They operate under a rotating schedule which usually consists of 5 days in a row working 12/hr shifts then with four days off after that. Depending on where you are with the company as far as recycling department or paper mill etc. Will determine if that schedule sticks to the home/work value it actually portrays to have. You can move up in every area in the company and you are fully supported and surrounded by a lot of leadership and motivation however, depending on where you are in the company will determine your workload for example four days off might seem great but what they don’t tell you is there are mandatory days that you have to work twice a month that may or may not fall on your days off during rotation And there is also on call required for some shifts on their days off. If you take those matters into consideration some days you wind up working a full 7-9 days straight 12 hours shifts without a day off but it’s not recognized as that because Sunday starts a new week. Overall the company is amazing to work for and offers great benefits and a lot of money is able to be made. and there is a lot of options
ProsGreat benefits/salary room for growth
ConsPhysically draining

Overall fair
This was a very good job for me to take the knowledge and experience I already had and develop it even more. When l first started at this company I didn't have any procedures to follow because it was a brand new company so I used my past experience to set up the warehouse and stock to run efficiently and productively. We would stock rolls so the tags were visible for inventory and easily accessible for all clamp truck drivers. We had a schedule to follow of trucks coming in to be unloaded, follow the schedule, and sometimes when a carrier came in 5 to 6 hours before their appointment we would unload them if no one was waiting in line. We unloaded on average 25 to 30 trucks in 10 hours on our shift. The hardest part of the job for me was when some of the management and co-workers were very moody due to the extreme stress and pressure the job demanded. For a few years I helped work in the office when an employee took days off. With being leadman of the warehouse, working in the office, taking calls to schedule incoming trucks and scheduling companies to come in for roll stock repair, it became very stressful for me also. At this point I went to management to voice my concern about the heavy responsibilities, as a result I was demoted to clamp truck driver and suffered a cut in pay. Then management decided to give the scheduling job to people in the office and the person that was given leadman position had much lighter responsibilities. But I did enjoy my job very much and
ProsSometimes we would get walmart gift cards for safety award, and carry in dinners, also good vacation time with senority.
ConsReally didn't have any cons expect (moody) people.

Low class work environment with large amount of discrimination.
Hardest part of the job is was dealing with the fact that Pratt is located in a rural area of Conyers, GA. This company has some of the nicest people you could ever work with, however, it also has some of the most disrespectful and condescending people you could ever work with. By it being located in the relatively small town of Conyers, GA. you have to deal with the management sometimes treating you as people did back in the 1960's. I witnessed several incidents in which managers (Human Resource) would deliberately provoke a negative reaction from their employees just because they could get away with it. Also I noticed that one of the Plant Managers literally acting as if he owned the entire company, often times yelling at his employees for the smallest thing, (like walking out of the bathroom without wearing his safety-goggles eye protection). There's one more thing you should know about Pratt Industries, it has a BIG PROBLEM WITH NEPOTISM...! I remember VERY CLEARLY that an assistant manager was working for a few months in the Display building but AS SOON as she graduated, was immediately promoted to a new office in the upstairs corporate office, right down the hall from HER FATHER..!!?! Also I have personally seen managers hire their kids, train them, and then FIRE other employees to create a spot for their children. Just my observation. I'm sure this happens occasionally everywhere, but at Pratt it's a BIG PROBLEM. PRATT = NEPOTISM & DISRESPECT..!
ProsNon-professional atmosphere leads to moderate degree of autonomy.
ConsManager can pretty much get away with whatever they want, and so will their adult children that work there.

rather nice place to work with a great work enviroment
a typical day at pratt display was rather fast paced and easily flew by without much of a hassle. the warehouse was an over all kind environment with many different people and cultures blending wonderfully with the building. The over all job allowed me to work on my time management as well as my attention to detail within my personal tasks throughout the day. I learned rather quickly how to operate the companies software and also how important a organized and easily navigated work station is when operating so timely while being around so many individuals. while working at pratt the management suffered a huge loss in employees and with that a few months happened to be quite shaky, however the staff genuinely pulled together and kept the work days normalized and as swift as ever which I admired about them. the work could easily stack up during a break or lunch outing and the pressure to push orders out the door quickly and correctly could get pretty immense and often times could make coworkers on edge. many a times tension would be in the office and that created a negative work environment that was hard to enjoy, but nothing was more rewarding than seeing the trucks pull away and having your higher ups praise everyone for another flawless day. even with the pressure to be perfect high the warehouse was always a giant family and at the end of the shift it was good knowing you had people around you who understood and would have your back when you truly needed it.
Prospizza parties, employee interaction, overall atmosphere
Conscultural fights, pressure, low response rates for managers

Fast paced and challenging
A typical day at Pratt begins with a safety meeting which all employees are required to attend. A new safety topic is introduced on the first day of each week and we are given a quiz about the topic on the last day of the week. Safety is very important at Pratt. After the meeting, we go out into the production area where we begin making preparations for the day's production. A look at the printed schedule reveals the necessary tooling and materials that will be required for the next few hours. Once preparations have been made, the machinery is then started up. A sample part is ran, which is then thoroughly inspected for quality. Once inspected, batch production begins. As an operator, my major job function is to ensure that everything on my line is doing what it is supposed to be doing; one small hang-up on the line can lead to a catastrophe, so I must be aware of my surroundings and also be able to spot potential mishaps before they occur. I enjoy my job at Pratt. There are days when absolutely nothing goes right, but the days when everything goes right leaves me with a great feeling of satisfaction. I am highly fond of the majority of my co-workers; they are great people. But even with my higher education, I feel that my career has reached its peak with this company. I stand by and watch as advancement opportunities are handed to employees with less experience and less education. I do understand that the company is happy with me being at my current position, but they must

Healthy Company with much room for growth
Pratt is a wonderful company if you are willing to put in the time and commitment that is required. The management team from top to bottom seems to really have a sense of what is good for the employees in general and they are often engaged and helping to find ways to make their employees have a healthy work environment. The management team was very helpful and offered guidance when it was most needed at the beginning of my career at Pratt and throughout. The people that work in the factory are pleasant people to be around and they have a real team atmosphere in the production department. I would highly recommend Pratt to anyone that is looking for a career opportunity long term. It is hard work at times but the benefits far exceed the work that has to be done. As long as you come to work, do your best each and communicate to the management that you would like to move up in the company there is nothing stopping you from doing so but yourself in my opinion. I think alot of companies would be well served by taking some lessons from Pratt Valpo in regards to employee relations and overall management. We are not just names on a wall here, we are all human beings with our own sets of priorities and family and we are treated as such.
ProsGood pay, room for growth, consistent business and hours, great management. Care a lot about their employees
