Worst company I've ever worked for.
No help or support for staff! Work never appreciated. Very disorganised, I've been there 10 years and had 10 managers. Not vert accommodating if you have a family.

waste of time being there
Put on till from day one without any training. Certain members of staff get away with anything just walking off when busy for a cigarette break etc. No management to be seen always in back office. Not a very friendly environment to be in at all staff not willing to help each other out and could not care less about the customers. Food was been ate at the till which I thought was very unprofessional.

worst place to work
bad pay, terrible managers, everything about this job was absolutely mind numbing. I felt like I was constantly nagged at, I felt really unappreciated for things i did well. I would rather work at Mcdonalds

Terrible place to work
I am a previous employee for poundland and found the job ok however the attitude of supervisors and management appalling. I was contracted 26 hours a week yet worked 48 hours in 4 days. I had very few breaks and worked over my hours as the store valued 'team work' some evenings I wasn't leaving until after 9pm to be told we don't get paid after 7pm. For the 48 hours I worked I was paid the measly sum of 111.17p. I left 5 weeks ago and still have not received the rest of my wages or in fact my p60. I have had numerous discussions with payroll who then informed me that poundland had only paid me for 21 hours. They are still waiting for a reply back from the store in dorchester. I have a family and 2 children to support.
ConsManagement attitude, little breaks and long hours

People are fun to work with management are biased and awful
Poundland is an awful place to work. The hours are bad, the pay is bad and the management is bad. I work at Poundland now and people never get punished if they do something wrong so they carry on doing it because they know they wont do anything. The manager sits in the office from 7am-5pm and then goes home and never does a late shift. The assistant manager does a wan***sign behind customers, gossips about his staff and is only assistant manager because he is best mates with the manager. The supervisors are lazy and do the bare minimum and the shop assistants are gossips and always gossiping so your lucky if you meet someone that isnt. Ive met my best mate there so there is some decent people there. Mostly everyones young because they dont keep old people on or people over 21. Most people are nice but some are horrible and are very two faced. plus your complaints go nowhere even if u complain to hr or the manager and u feel like you cant tell the manager about the assistant manager cos he will just laugh and tell him and then the assistant manager will turn everyone against u.

Good first time job
If you’re on tills you're mostly left alone to do everything like self service and tills at the same time it gets too stressful at times
However shop floor work is enjoyable and a lot less stressful then being a cashier
Perfect first time job

Quality Staff, but need more of them.
You'll always be busy working at poundland. I had a bloody good manager Ade, if not for that it would have been a lot more stressful and draining. I found that most the staff are friendly and just trying to get on with their work. Customers tend to reply well to a good and friendly attitude. There was the odd snobby, blunt person, but most people respond with and well to a smile or polite hello.

A rewarding job
I worked at Poundland for around two years, and on the most part enjoyed the job. I only left to follow an alternative career, and would happily return.

Fast paced workplace
During my work experience placement at Poundland a typical day involved stock replenishment, customer service and general housekeeping. I learnt to work well in a fast paced retail environment & enjoyed meeting all the customers. Staff and managers were very friendly.
