Overall Reviews at Plato's Closet

Quickly Outgrew This Company
This company does not value its hardworking employees, and will underpay you until you build enough courage to stand up for yourself (and most of these employees are 15-16 years old). This is the most exhausting job I’ve ever had, this is a job that follows you home and eats into your personal time, and oh yeah! I was severely underpaid on top of it. I would work literally any other retail job out there. It would 100% off you more money and easier work than whatever this pathetic store could offer you.
ProsStore Manager is the kindest human ever
ConsThe rest of it.

Fun place to work, great first job, expect to plateau
Plato's Closet is a great place to get experience in customer/guest service for someone who has none. With the right determination, you can gain experience in almost all areas of retail as well, including some management skills such as cash handling, opening/closing shop, and training new hires.

Creative Workspace
Practiced keeping the store organized and clean, worked with the computer system to properly input or look up information, learned how to separate personal life from work life, practiced creativity with fashion and social media/photography, handled money and worked with a cash register, examined clothes and made a store decision to buy or not to buy items.
Learned how to communicate with different kinds of costumers, understood how private/personal lives need to be separated from work life for professional reasons.
The hardest part of the job was having to deal with the drama and rumors being spread throughout the workplace, but learning how to properly deal with conflict and resolve situations really helped me with this issue.

I don't really have much to say about this place other than the fact I never really got to move up in the company and I worked with them for two years.

Fast paced and friendly atmosphere
I enjoyed the over all business model for Plato's Closet. Recycling clothing and cash back into our economy was a concept that intrigued me. The typical day a work consisted of balancing and managing monetary flow, reviewing sales floor inventory levels and notifying staff of the days "to do" goals, reviewing and implementing training timelines, delegating tasks, and communicating with other management about each stores needs. Working at Plato's taught me everything I know about management. We did our best to create a positive and friendly environment while still maintaining a high level of trust and respect with employees and customers. One of the most difficult aspects of the job was relaying to the customer what we would not be purchasing without upsetting them, but was also the most important part of the job. Communicating what we needed to purchase was key in getting in the inventory our customers were looking to buy. Without customers selling us their great items Plato's wouldn't be in business!
