It’s an okay place to work
You’ll probably have problems with the daytime management and the owner. The owner gets so stressed he starts yelling and daytime management never does anything they’re supposed to. The other coworkers though are great if you can get along with different types of personalities, it’s very diverse!

It is a very productive and fun work place. Everyone is very kind here and they all get the job done. Overall, it is a very fun place to work at.
Pizza express was definitely my best option for a first job. I soon became assistant manager there after only 5 months of working. Pizza express has helped me in so many ways. First, they gave me experience. They also gave me the opportunity to buy my first car. The people here also are amazing! I get along with everyone very well.
ProsPaid brakes
ConsNo benefits, also paid under the table

Having the opportunity to meet a lot of interesting people, and to be able to work in a welcoming atmosphere.
It is a great job to have if you enjoy working in a restaurant type setting. There is a lot of opportunity for advancement if you're willing to work hard and show up to work. I enjoy working there because I feel at home and i don't ever feel pressured to be there. Friendly environment and great service. There are days where it can be stressful, but at the end of the day everyone does their part in getting the work done. If you need time off from work, they will work around your schedule to ensure you get time or vacation days.
ProsDiscounts on food along with vacation time

Good first job
If your looking for a first job this is the perfect place for you, you don’t work that many hours you get paid every week and the job really isn’t that hard but if your looking for something lifetime then stay away because the pay is very low the hours are very short and the cheeks are even smaller

good starting block
PizzaExpress is where I started my journey into catering, I started out as a waiter, saw an opportunity to progress so did, next came a supervisors position which I worked hard to get, then the assistant mangers role became available and again worked hard to get, same with the gm role this company had a really good family feel to it, all the co-workers worked well together and the company really made you feel like they cared.

Great brand with clear proposition, strong operationally, profitable.
I worked in the licensing division responsible for growing sales and profits for PizzaExpress through the Grocery channel.
You have to be effective at mobilising and controlling the performance of licensing partners.
The management team needs experience of consumer led commercial brand management.
My co-workers were cut from this cloth.
The hardest part of the job is managing third parties to acheive your goals and not having control over your own distribution.
The best part of the job is setting the agenda and seeing your plans succeed.
Prosstrong brand. good people. dynamic marketplace.
Consno control over your own distribution.

It was a home away from home.
Everything about the ambience was magnificent. The waiters were good friends and listeners, it was a real jol to be working there. Customers were treated with outmost respect and valued, the motto was to invest in children because they are the future.

Very much the norm
Pizza Express does exactly as much as it takes to stand a toe's length ahead of its competitors and nothing more, the real benefits are in the relationships that those on the bottom rung build between themselves, I've seen some real camaraderie between waiters, chefs and cleaners.
ProsFree lunches
ConsPoor work allocation

Good
Have work there for many years, it is a good company to work for if you want to work and grow. Has plenty of opportunities and training to all the staff. As being a big company with 400+ restaurants you have chances to relocate if you needed to.
