Overall ok.
Work is inclusive and diverse with good customer service. A feeling of belonging and passion. Flexibility in scheduling is good but low benefits and pay.

Great job if you dont need alot of money
Went in with almost 5 years pet and customer service experience and only got 25 cents over minimum wage and when asked for a higher wage or job position I was promptly turned down. Great place to work, my direct manager was great and the customers and coworkers were nice.

Stressful for a Pet store
The company based the stores on the number of sales that they would get and it was never enough for them. They would remain open during horrible winter storms and icy conditions. They had no regards for the staff or the way that they were treated. I did receive my nutritional certification through the program that they offered. I also was able to meet the majority of my dog sitting clients through them.

mediocre expirience
dont work here if you cant deal with cleaning up multiple puddles of dog wee every day. the pace at my location was mind numbingly slow and i didnt have the best manager so maybe im an outlier. the best part of the job is you get to meet lots of animals, so if petting lots of dogs makes up for having to work minimum wage retail, then this is the job for you

Fun work environment
Great place to work but of course has room for improvements like any other moderately growing company. I’m pleased with the experience and knowledge I gained working there for the period I did.

If they had better management it would be a much better company
The training is amazing and very in depth of all animals.The relationships you make are great with your co-workers. They do not allow room for growth within the company. They would rather have an outside hire than promote from within.

Very clean and productive workplace
I enjoyed working here a lot. I miss the positive environment I was in, I loved helping with animals and helping customers find specific products that they may need. Great company overall!

I loved working at Pet Valu and I miss it. It was one of my best and most favorite jobs by far. I could've been a manager if I didn't mess up but nice and friendly workplace.

Productive, nice customers and a good learning experience about animal nutrition.
Asked customers questions and talked to them about different options when it comes to pet supplies. I learned a lot about dog and cat nutrition. Most of the time it was easy and slower paced. Not super busy.

I was a key holder.
I would open and close the store.
I was able to open and close the register.
The best part was that you would pretty much get a workout at work always being on your feet, especially on shipment days.
I truly enjoyed working here.
I would of stayed if I would of made more money.

Amazing
I really loved working for Aurora, she was so great. I loved working with the people and their pets, although I had to stop working there because of my school situation I will always point people with pets in Aurora's direction, she is awesome!

Always busy but great place to work. Controller was a wonderful person to learn from. Working hours and pay was on point. Accounting dept now closed in BC

Fun envirnoment, lovely customer base, organized way of business for the most part.
I really do enjoy this job. The environment is laid back yet everything gets done. We get to do fun things, we see animals in a daily basis, we have events and fundraisers for local spca and rescue group which is very fufilling but my cons are its a very small staff (5) at my particular location which can cause quite a few issues in my opinion, although it does have its perks as well.
