General Manager is HORRIBLE
There are people in your life that you should never work for - this place (name withheld - but female) is the literal worst. Avoid this place at all cost unless you have zero self esteem and need an overbearing, domineering person to dictate your life to you
Prosokay employee benefits
Consunbelievably terrible customer service

Alright to gain experience
Midigation was a huge part of this company, not realizing one person can only do so much and not understanding why things didnt get done. Perkins gave me a sense of apperication, which made me work hard. With little pay increase and a larger work load i ended up feeling it was all for nothing. I enjoyed 75 percent of my co-workers, of corse some more then others.

Structure and brand name of national restaurant
This restaurant has been a staple of the town for many years. Has the flow to go from a slow day to busy with a full restaurant. The store is trying to grow and reorganize

Great company, great atmosphere, great employees.
Working for Perkins has been nothing short of an excellent experience. The company is great and treats the employees well. The tenure of the majority of people working there speaks for itself.

Flexible hours for college students
When I was there the Gardner store was well managed and customer service was priority. There is plenty of opportunity to advance with hard work and attention to detail.
ProsOpportunities for advancement, flexible working hours
ConsLong shifts when others don't show up for work

I made good money as a server.
As a server I did well enough to pay my bills. My management salary was okay, but I did make more as a server in the long run. The crew was clicky for a better word. If you weren't one of the click you were treated like a dog.

Strong Leadership
Perkins gave me a great start on leadership and management. It helped me develop the work ethics and great HR management training. Strong culture training.

Enjoyable, Social, Fast-Paced Enviroment
A typical work day would include greeting and interacting with the guests, building rapport with both new and long-time guests. As well as communicating and directing employees, and promoting an upbeat and fun atmosphere. While directing and assigning duties and tasks ensuring that all work hours were within the percentage of labor allowed. Inventory would also be part of a typical day to ensure that proper food pars would be established for the sales anticipated. As well as ensuring that all food products met all standards of health and safety standards.
ProsUpbeat environment, Good Advancement, and Good Benefits
ConsStressful, Short Breaks, Long Hours

Good place to start, and for short term employment
I have been with Perkins for seven years, there was a point in time where I could really see myself there. While there is a strong comittment and dedication to the Guest that we serve that is unmatched by our competition, over the years, the business (at Perkins and in general) has really struggled to stay viable, and has been in a phase of erosion for some time - (filing bankruptcy in June of 2011). There are also struggles with employee retention and morale and management, given the type of business which tends to have a high turnover. Overall, Perkins has definetly taught me the importance of serving others, and I stay dedicated and faithful to my emloyers, and will continue to do so as long as I am there. But I am looking for an alternative to Perkins, as the once great opportunities have faded considerably over time. Additionally, I am hoping to expand my skill sets beyond the restaurant business.
