Overall Reviews at Penn State University

Project Manager | Prince George's County, MD | Apr 9, 2020
Generally a good place to work.
Generous benefit: vacation sick time health insurance vision dental reduce tuition for spouses and family members Little room for advancement. Penn State is the primary employer in a rural area so their is a lot of competition for jobs. Once someone is hired, they generally do not leave. Penn State HR is not strong and does not advocate for employees.

Very Bureaucratic
If you like to be pigeon-holed and micromanaged, then PSU is for you. It used to be a great place to work, but over the past 8 years it has become very top heavy.

good
Although, like most of other academic institution, the work environment is mostly dependent on the PI. The overall work environment in Penn State University College of Medicine is friendly, innovative.

productive and fn place to work
Not a bad place to work. I was a work study student so I'm not sure what being a full time employee is like. I enjoyed my four years though none the less.

It all depends on your work unit
Every work unit is different so if your leadership is strong and supportive you will enjoy working here. If not, you will struggle to find purpose. Work life balance was good.
ProsFlexibility, benefits

Great experience
Spent a great semester on campus working with faculty and students. Got to totally enjoy the campus environment and would highly recommend this opportunity to any professional journalist who wants to spend time embracing the changing technologies of the industry and influencing today's youth.

Top Notch Employer
Good employer in State College PA. Good benefits and fair wages. Numerous training programs and employment seminars available. Learned to interact with many cultures. The hardest part of the job was constantly changing systems and government regulations used in hiring practices. The most enjoyable part of the job were the people.
