worst job of my career
This is for the Times Square (42nd St) location, who also manages Herald Square. When I started this job, fellow employees told me to run away as fast as I could. Here are all the reasons I should have: 1. I was hired part-time (20 hrs listed in my official availability) because I was a student. My first schedule (given to me a day in advance) I was given 39 hours. After four separate discussions with a manager, my hours never went under 30. 2. Good luck asking for time off. Even it’s approved (unlikely) you’ll have to remind the manager over and over and then you’ll probably still get scheduled for those days. If it’s approved (unlikely) you’ll have to remind the manager over and over and then you’ll probably still get scheduled for those days. 3. There were about 10 managers who all directed you to a different one. No single person in charge and they all had different rules. 4. if you had a 9 hour shift, it would be on the schedule as eight hours because they don’t include your breaks, and they only included 8 hours in your count for the week even though you would be there for 9. 5. they will schedule people literally for 39.75 hours so they can avoid giving benefits while working them to death. 6. they were so over staffed most time, so you’d just be standing around, and then they’d yell at you for your sales being low even though there were 15 employees and 2 customers. 7. they offered a super insulting bonus, it was impossible and no one ever got it. A Company that has no room for growth and no lack of management.
Working for Pandora inside Disney's Magic Kingdom was the best part of my job, working in Disney. Because it was in Disney, employees would have to work long hours, up until 4 am at times. Management ALWAYS worked Opening (7 -8 am) until about 4 or 5pm. Assistant manager barely worked and was extremely rude and had no intention of helping with anything. Would always make an excuse to leave early. Associates at times would work 10 - 13-hour shifts, with only ONE 30 min break and a small 15 min break upon discretion of sales lead. A typical work day was to come in with full Disney costume and hit the sales floor. Work with over hundreds of guest a day and sell charms. In between getting left alone on the floor, no ability to go to the bathroom because leads and management were non-existent, always somewhere else. Have a very fast lunch in Disney break room as we had none. If you had a great sale no one would recognize your hard work as sales Lead will not want to help you grow, and visualize you as a threat, therefore not giving you the "good job" you deserve or your manager deserves to know. If your going to school they will not work with your school schedule. The schedules would be emailed EXTREMELY LATE and always having the email line "sorry for the delay" At times, schedule would be available to you only one day prior, leaving you with no time to go to Dr's Appointments. Selling the jewelry was fun but that is about it. As a company itself, Pandora has no

One word...Favoritism!!
I was an employee for years, and i never noticed how bad the favoritism was until just recently. You will get called out if you’re checking you’re email, or on social media, but it’s ok if another associate is playing games on their phone the whole day. Or if another employee is watching gaming videos all day as well. Don’t bother busting your tail to get the job done either bc all that does is get you a shift you didn’t ask for....again, because if you’re not a favorite, you get screwed, whether the shift is convenient for you or not. The favorites get the shift they want though, even though they don’t get off their tails and do anything. The lack of communication is really bad as well. No one seems to know their head from their butt, and every week they’re changing policies and confusing the heck out of the employees. There is also the vault manager who, if he doesn’t like you, you won’t be there long. Many times have i seen temps get let go within the first week bc they didn’t like the way they were talked to by the vault manager, or he just didn’t like them. Also to note, he abuses the point system just to rid of full time employees he doesn’t like. Don’t worry about moving up with the company either, only favorites get that privilege too. The whole company has always been like high school used to be, with plenty of drama and employees dating each other. Heed my warning, unless you kiss butt to be a favorite, there’s no point in working here. You’ll get screwed otherwise,

Worst experience I’ve ever had !
Overall I’ve been in sales for awhile now and I have to say that my first week training here was the worst experience of my life. Not only did the store manager threaten my employment with the company unjustly but he also went on to call me later on that day to fire me and hang up with no reason as to why I was let go. I will be reporting to HR. To anyone trying to work here, just DONT. The store you train at is full of people that don’t want to help you, they just give you looks as if bothered by your existence. The hiring manager is highly unprofessional, he will address you in very disrespectful ways. For example: training videos were to be completed by a certain day, but the website doesn’t always load correctly or there’s usually errors with the videos . The training manager was informed by MANY of the trainees that the site wasn’t working. We were told to move on to the ones that do work. The following day the hiring manager comes in and starts to tell all the trainees how disappointed he is in us because we didn’t complete everything and goes on to say that he expects more from us and so on etc. the training manager took no responsibility for what she told us about moving forward with the training website and let us take the blame. Later on the day the hiring manager singled me out of the 6 people that were training along with me to insult me and to say exactly these words “I have a profile on indeed with hundreds of applications, don’t make me regret hiring you” I co

Fun atmosphere, interesting clientele
I enjoyed working at Pandora Jewelry. They are structured and show where you stand daily to see how close you are to making commission. How much you make in commission depends on you so not only are you encouraged to work as a team to make numbers, but there is also individual drive to keep selling more and establishing long term connections with customers. Management lets you share your ideas in meetings that happen twice a month to help improve the store. And the hours are not only flexible (if you are balancing another job or school), but they are also standard shifts with a set closing time. Coming from food industry, I greatly appreciated the atmosphere. It's laid back, but challenging enough so day-to-day tasks don't become boring. I love getting to know the regular customers who come in looking for more charms to add to their bracelets. I also love the creativity I can get to exhibit in helping customers create new styles. I also like meeting the travelers from out of town. They appreciate being listened to. New customers everyday come with new challenges and more chances to test your selling skills. Management is great overall and each store manager has the opportunity to run the store how they wish. This is both good and bad depending on the manager. Raise opportunities are always there as well as promotional opportunities.
Prosgreat environment, management promotes from within, hard work does pay off, 30 minutes for mandatory break a shift
Consmanagers have leeway in running store how they wish, this is good or bad depending on the manager, longer hours during holidays

Challenging, but rewarding
This may vary from store to store due to the brand being a franchise. However, on the back end, the left hand does not communicate with the right, so there is constant issues with ordering, unless you have a great key account Manager. Key account managers are VERY political, and they have a lot of authority over your store. Several orders have been "missed", or "glitched", out of the system, unless you own ten or more Pandora stores. Leading to a serious delay in product arrival, impacting the customers view of the store. In store the culture is very positive and loving. Highly sales driven, but invested in development and coaching. Hours are distributed fairly amongst associates based on performance (may vary from store to store). Clienteling is a huge part of the business. For senior management there is a lot of fun travel (may vary from store to store). LOTS of growing pains. Pandora is ever changing, and is struggling keeping up with their growth, so there is a lot of trial and error which can be frustrating. For a franchise owner, they are often more unfair than fair, and there are a lot of broken promises. Orders are NOT shipped by order date (first in, first out). This goes back to favoritism and politics. You may be the first to place an order, but if a "bigger fish" orders more than you later, your shipment will be adjusted if you even receive it at all. Little opportunity for growth unless your franchise owner has several stores. Little investment
ProsTravel, great team, fun environment
ConsPolitical outside of franchise, very poor with communication

Horrible Work Environment
DO NOT WORK IN PANDORA TIME SQUARE and HERALD SQUARE LOCATION. I learned a lot working at Pandora, however, I was always miserable. First off I was just an associate but there was no work-life balance. I was hired as part-time but worked full-time hours even after requesting multiple times as part-time. I worked in the Times Square location and It was very stressful. The management there was horrible, they would give you attitude for not reaching your sales goal even though it was set at an unrealistic goal. There was a lot of drama between management but I enjoyed working with other associates. Also, they would purposely give you 6-hour shifts so you could only have a 15-minute break. When the store hours were changed associates were not notified. There were so many times when I was supposed to leave at 9:30 pm but couldn't leave till 10:30 pm because the managers were taking forever to close. Also, every day that I would come in there would be new rules changed and every manager has their own rules it was so annoying to keep track. Men would come and flirt and harass the sales associates all the time. I've had so many encounters with creepy customers constantly asking when my break starts or writing their phone numbers on receipts. Also, no one ever works here for more than 3 or 4 months, when I was hired and when I left it was all completely different people. If you are looking for a sales associate job please do not work in the Times Square and Herald Square locations.

An Easy Job to Love
Working for Pandora has so many pluses. The work environment is clean, bright and open. Team members control the product so closing duties are quick and easy (no chasing down discarded products in dressing rooms or random racks at the end of the night). The sales team is friendly and the store leaders are kind, patient and flexible. New members to the team are brought up to speed quickly on the selling floor. Training modules are released regularly, keeping staff up to date on product details and new product releases. Customers love the variety of options available and helping them find just the right item is rewarding. The build as you go concept for bracelets make them extremely personal to the customer. Gift giving holidays create a big uptick in customer traffic and the pace becomes much faster during peak seasons. Sales promotions like free bracelet with purchase keep fans of Pandora returning again and again. The employee discount program is extremely generous. Team members are expected to wear only Pandora jewelry while working (with exceptions made for wedding rings and watches) and the discount makes it very affordable to pick your favorite pieces. There are also promotional opportunities to earn awards for sales and PPC goals. Longevity is also rewarded with annual anniversary gift. Whether you are seeking regular or seasonal employment, Pandora is a great place to work.
ProsGreat employee discount, friendly staff, clean work environment, annual reviews and pay increases
ConsStarting pay is average

Unorganized mess of an establishment
Upon my interview i saw what type of people were employed at this business. A lot of young people (i am 24 so yes i am young) with no experience sporadically moving up in the ranks. Once i started working there i saw how unfair the conditions were. They will start you at minimum wage if you have no backbone. They will keep you at your rate of pay for years on end (met a few people). The owner is unaware of who is actually just milking him for money while simultaneously causing him to lose money for his store. NO overtime unless your slaving during the holidays and before you think that's a plus, they do not have any holidays off. They are open 365 days. Through all types of weather. If you even think about taking a vacation during that time they will start to do petty things like cut your hours and even termination. They do NOT give you time & a half no if ands or but, for ANY holiday. The management is mostly unprofessional and petty. If you are not a favorite you are getting the short end of the stick. yes it is a small store. It is also a franchise so every Pandora is different. in my case i'm talking about the times square & herald square locations in New York City. Really had some good times because of a few employees but the way of life during this job was nothing to be happy about. Thats one positive i can say is that some of the associates were really great people who deserve much more than that store can offer them.
ProsCool employees depending i guess

Productive and fun work place
At Pandora, it is our duty to assist every customer with what they are looking for. We are required to ask the occasion they are shopping for, personality traits to personalize the merchandise they are purchasing, and wrap up the sale in a friendly manner. Along with assisting customers, we are also enforced to have customers try and open up a Pandora Credit Card to ensure they will continue business with us. If there aren't any customers in the store to help, I usually restock product on the floor, clean up, or do inventory. Management right now is pretty decent. I can always go to a manager if I'm having an issue and they are usually very helpful. My co-workers are also extremely helpful and we all learn new things every day at work. Everyone gets a long as a team. I would say the hardest part of my job is having to deal with customers who are irate. I'm always a very nice and understanding with customers and I always carry a positive attitude no matter what. However, sometimes when I ask a manager for help with a customer who may be irate I feel that they aren't always willing to deal with them even being a part of management. I feel that in that particular situation management can be handled better. Otherwise, I really enjoy getting to know a customer and making sure they are satisfied. It's always nice when a customer comes in the store specifically to be helped by you. To me, that's the best reward.

Started out great but was thoroughly let down
One of the biggest reasons I applied for the job at Pandora Bedford was I was a customer myself. Plus after years raising a child at home I was looking for a job which would work around school hours. When I was interviewed I could instantly see the manager at that time was driven and wanted her staff to feel the same passion she did about the store. It made me feel positive that Pandora would be the right place for me to develop confidence in myself and to increase my sales skills. After my 3 month probation period I was officially a member of the Pandora team. During my review I made it clear that I wanted to progress within Pandora, take training and gain more hours. I was I was advised this wasn't possible at this time. At this point I was happy and enjoying my new found love of sales so the thought of waiting didn't faze me. Sadly my overall experience at Pandora was tarnished around the point business's went into lockdown. Our manager had just been promoted to another store and we were left to work from home (bearing in mind my job was sales assistant) under the supervision of the deputy manager. This member of staff was out of her league when it came to the overall leadership and all staff members felt left adrift and confused. Eventually our original manager stepped in and covered her new store as well as us. She introduced well being sessions and did her best to ensure we all stayed positive during this time. On announcement the non essential shops could start t

Fun if you like people, but not enough compensation for company demands
I worked with PANDORA for almost 2 years. PANDORA is franchised, so experience will vary by location. I worked at 2 different locations, and my experiences at both were similar. You have to have sales experience or extreme comfort with talking to people. You need to be able to remember tons of small details and be prepared for customers to be nastier than expected. Many customers take out their sticker shock on you, as they learn that PANDORA is not as affordable as it once was. Both locations I was at served similar clientele on paper, but in practice, the one location I was at was in a lower income area and I encountered noticeably more sticker shock. This made sales very very difficult. PANDORA pays minimum wage (or just above) for sales associates, and the commission structure is paltry and can be easily manipulated by miserly franchisees. You get .5% of all your sales, and 1% of all your sales when you make your budget (which is set far too high most of the time). You are on your feet, having to talk and talk about silly little charms to people who just need a thoughtless gift (for the most part). Some people are really into the product and those customers are FUN and you get to assemble some really nice jewelry. Other than that though, you will find yourself absolutely swamped at the most inopportune times during the year, with most of the times being quiet. The exception is holidays, where you will have line ups out the door. During these times you may be stres

Ruined my image of the brand
I was employed as a Christmas casual, and for a time, I loved it. We were pushed to keep customers in mind and to focus on them, but that being said, even if a customer had a specific budget we were pushed to show more, more and more which made customers visibly uncomfortable and stressed which in turn, made me uncomfortable and stressed. A one-item sale was not considered good enough, and those trainees who did not exceed three items were stalked by seniors for the rest of their shift. We were constantly talked about- both visibly behind our backs and in front of us- by managers and full/part-time staff members. It was clique-like, similar to stereotypical high schools, and many of the regular staff were childish in their manner (swearing in front of customers and at each other.) A lot of the staff would be condescending and refuse to let us put sales through by ourselves. The back area was a monstrosity, too small for two people to fit in which was hard when I needed to clean and someone else needed to clock in/out. I also managed to get a concussion from tripping in there when a staff member was sitting on the ladder used to reach stock on shelves during their shift (not on break, but they were full time so they could do whatever they wanted.) My first shift as a casual member (being no longer in trainee status), I asked if we got a staff discount. I was not given any information about this until my second last shift when I had finally saved enough to buy something. None o

Keen work place and Excellent Customer service.
You would get to work on the shop floor after putting your things in the back and get ready so that your highdrated, smell nice and look presentable. You would clean the shop floor until a customer came in and you would smile and walk behind the till part. You would ask the customer atleast 3 opening questions such as: what were you looking for?, who are you buying for?, what is your budget?. I learned alot about communication and thinking on the spot as if the customer didnt know what charm, bracelet, ring they wanted, they would discribe to you what they desire and there price range and you would pick a few appropriate items for them to look at. I also learned about The way you look and first imnpressions. As Pandora do not have a dress code you had to look presentable as you were representing the Brand. The management was brilliant at Pandora as they were keen to know how your day was, your averegage price you sold a day, what you sold, what they could do to help you feel abit more comftable,. always listened if you had a problem, a good laugh, proffesional, always made sure you looked presentable so no fly away hairs, smudged makeup, smelly breath or personal hygeine. The people I worked with were all different and all pleasent and lovely to talk to. You could talk to all of them easily they were all patient and helping if you were struggling. You could learn atleast 1 thing withion the job with everyone who worked there. The hardest part of the job is probably havi

Fun and fast paced work place
A typical day at the Pandora store was just like I had imagined. I got to talk to both people that loved Pandora Jewellery and people that had never heard of the brand. It was my job to find out what brought them to the store, who they were buying for, and what occasion it was for. Once I identified the customers needs, i would then show them products that they were interested in and other possible items that met their needs. In the short time working at Pandora I learnt many things. One of the most valuable things that I learnt was dealing with different types of people. Most people that approached the store were very friendly and happy to be there, but others were not so nice or happy to be there. I learnt that no matter how people treat or talk to you, you must alway be happy and friendly toward them. From the very first Shift the Regional Manager, Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager knew my name and they were all so nice and welcoming towards me. My co-workers were also all very nice and very welcoming. It made me very happy to go to work. The hardest part of my job occurred in my first couple of shifts. It was because I had never worked at the store before, so i didn't know where things were kept, so on various occasions I had to ask my co-workers where something was, and lucky for me they were always willing to help me out. The most enjoyable part of the job was definitely being able to work with the amazing Pandora Jewellery. I have always loved th

Christmas Casual
Worked as a Christmas Casual over the busy period. My store hadn't opened yet when they hired me so I was sent to other stores for 2 months whilst they kept delaying the opening. - Senior staff members were constantly gossiping and making fun of new staff - All they cared about was money, nothing else. We were always pressured to force customer's into buying more when that clearly wasn't what they wanted - Managers would get food delivered to the store using petty cash, then not let anyone else eat it during breaks, despite store policy - Very inconsistent shifts given, rostering people for months ahead, long before availability was due - Many of us paid incorrect amounts - Constantly telling people last minute their shift was over because the store hadn't made enough money that day - Sent out weekly ranking's of the 'top performing employees' and 'lowest performing employees' As my contract was ending at the end of the christmas period I did not wish to continue working for them, and I informed them of such. They sent me a new contract, with daily reminders to sign it so I did because I needed the money. Weeks later in a group email about something else they stated the contracts were sent accidentally, and to ignore them. I contacted the manager informing her that I was not impressed and that was a legal binding document. I never got a reply or another shift, was sent a letter of resignation to sign and never heard from the company or anyone ever again. Even t

If you were in charge, what would you do to make Pandora Jewelry a better place to work?
Asked Jul 11, 2017
I would allow employees to not only wear the three pieces of Pandora Jewelry but also some of their own jewelry. So that customers can see how well it would mix and match with their own pieces. Unrealistic goals are just that, unrealistic. Stop setting your employees up to fail. Employees that are not under such pressure can be better employees.

Restock the stores and not keep putting unreasonable expectations of tasks on the stores when there are lines out the door for customers and we have very limited staff
Answered Jul 10, 2020
What is the dress code like? Are you required to wear only Pandora jewelry?
Asked Oct 13, 2016
Pandora now allows you to wear black, white, gray and pink. No athletic sneakers. No denim. You may have an abstract pattern on clothing but not images like flowers etc. The three pieces of Pandora jewelry are part of the dress code but some managers may be lax about it.
