It sucks
No job support so nothing other than getting paid. They take money from you without even discussing any issues with their employees which is ridiculous.

A let-down
The company had all the potential to be "The Uber of Cleaning"-- convenient, affordable, and booming. However, It is none of the above because management is so poor, not even their employees are given a phone number to reach out if we have any questions, concerns, etc. This, too, is a complaint from MANY customers-- no phone number to contact anyone in charge! Ridiculous! I am leaving because there are literally no jobs on the platform to choose from. It looks like their horrible customer service, untrained staff, and lack of honesty has finally caught up with them.
ProsMedia opportunities; flexibility
ConsNo benefits, no stability (jobs are not always available), no management or customer service, no training for staff, unrealistic expectations sold to customers and employees

Delivery Person (independent Contractor) | Dallas, TX | Jun 18, 2015
None
Nothing good to say. This job is only if you like wasting your time accepting jobs that are not guaranteed. Don't get 40 hours unless you work far away from your home and you don't get paid for travel time and your not guaranteed a tip. Because they do not authorize clients to do anything but give you a Thanks or a bad review that everyone else can see. which is unfair. Some clients don't even request for enough time to do their home in a timely manner. I'm sorry but a 3 story home with 3 flights of stairs and 3 bathrooms and 3 bedrooms in 3.5 hours is not enough time. And they want you to make sure you get all cat fur up. REALLY handy!!!! Need a better way of finding out what a client expect before assuming the cleaner didn't do their job.
ConsNot e;.qanough hours equals not enough pay.

Pay rate needs to be consistent
Work-life balance Hourly rate can fluctuate based on a single review. I had 18 awesome reviews and one mediocre review because of a booking misunderstanding and my pay dropped $4 hourly. Not worth it to clean unsanitary personal property Pay & benefits The pay is inconsistent Job security and advancement There isn't even any hands on training or live customer/employee support Overall Customer service needs to be available to employees and clients. An email only option is not always best for urgent matters. A cleaners pay rate should not drop based on a single review, especially if he/she held a steady positive reputation and had repeat clients

Fun workplace, but underhanded and vicious
The company is just interested in making money, not keeping employees. Drunk employees would linger after work hours making our overnight shift nearly impossible. The company skimped on employee pay for independent contractors, to inhibit them from reaching the appropriate tier of pay.
ProsGood pay and benefits
ConsNo job security

Great organization
I have nothing bad to say about this company. the goal of the company is to get abused and dependent youth to become education and self sufficient. they set their goals high and met all expectations.

Made my own schedule and advanced based on my rating. Great experience.
I liked making my own schedule and I really liked doing the air bnb cleaning gigs. Good money too. If I lived in a city where handy provides service. I would be active.
ProsMaking own schedule
ConsNo paid time off

Loved working without a boss
It was great working on my own and creating my own hours. I would definitely recommend people to take advantage of great your own business using this platform.
ProsWorked my own hours
ConsSometimes not enough jobs

Depends on your area
Couldn't get the best out of this because jobs weren't always available but the people in the homes were always nice and respectful. Would keep as a side job.
ProsDepending on hours and area, you would get paid well
ConsThere isn't really a help desk. Independent Contractor means no HR

Can I take a friend to help me clean
Asked Jul 6, 2016
If its a big job, i dont see any reason why you cant bring a helper. If youre a sub contractor then it should be your decision. Youre taking responsibility for your helper. Of coursr you should have the customers permission.
Answered Sep 22, 2019
In the App it states you can take an assistant who has been approved to perform work on Handy. However, Handy does advise to contact the Customer for permission. Some customers are not comfortable with more than 1 cleaner in there home. My question for Handy would be regarding actual Hours vs Man Power hours. The pay is already low.

If you were in charge, what would you do to make Handy a better place to work?
Asked Aug 6, 2018
You are pretty much in charge so i would say being awarded for being a good role model?
Answered Dec 4, 2020
Have better support for the workers, better communication, fix the issues with the app ( like being paid the correct amount for repeat customers) so I don’t have to email them a bunch. And have to fight for what is owed to me. (As stated in the contract)

Can felons work for Handy?
Asked Jan 18, 2017
They can/will overlook a person's felonies and/or misdemeanors, but it depends on the nature of the crimes committed. Any violent, sexually-based, or outstanding theft charges on a person's record(convicted or acquitted) will cause the person to be denied automatically since the services provided are performed at customers' private homes with no supervision from anyone other than, possibly, the customer if they have a home surveillance system or consistently actively watching the contractor over the duration of the job.
Answered Oct 12, 2020
Yes, I have a federal felony that should show up on a background check - 21 years old - but they accepted me and I’ve been taking jobs. I’m hoping that means they have some qualifications about timeframe.
