Nice place to work
Learned the need for affordable housing and how hard it is for the clients to find a house. Seen how hard it is for the clients to get funding for there dream home.

very stressful
It's a really tough job to have. You need to be very active and moving around at all times. You have to be able to lift at least 50 pounds constantly and helping customers throughout the day.
Prosemployees are family

May as well volunteer..
Highly volition budget situation. Funding is always contingent and they’ll use you until they don’t need you. once they’re done with you, you may or may not receive final wages and could be left holding the bag trying to scramble and pay your bills. Then they’ll hire shady attorneys to lie to the wage and labor board.. I left corporate America thinking I wills be valued and appreciated and they were the absolute worst employer ever.. just don’t.
ProsFlexible work environment
ConsThey don’t honor agreements and think they’re above the law because they’re a “non-profit”.

Very well run non- profit
Other than salary limitations, this non- profit is a wonderful place to work. It allows for a professional, interesting and somewhat flexible working environment. Run as a social enterprise, it follows its mission in an effective and sustainable manner.
ProsGreat benefits, flexibility, good cause
ConsLittle room for promotions or salaries somewhat commensurate with private employers

It's a very warm and friendly environment. Everyone is kind. Management cares about employees and is always thoughtful. There are many volunteers who help and do an amazing job. I love the mission of this company. And I love seeing that they do a lot of good for people in need.

Strong Mission and Passion for Affordable Housing
Habitat for Humanity has a crucial mission in the world, and the people are extremely committed to the cause of affordable housing around the world. The work is often fast-paced and dynamic. Because it is a highly desirable place to work, it is often difficult to advance inside the organization

Excellent community support and resources.
Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity was a relaxed and giving environment. Volunteers were willing and gracious of their time and efforts, thus, coordinating build site schedules and luches was seemingly effortless.
ProsEnjoyable and pleasant working environment.
ConsEmployment opportunities are not readily available to the general working public.

Touching work; really changing peoples lives
We started with gospel fellowship and moved into worked. Learnt alot on Orphans and Vulnerable groups, housing types and products. The Management in EMEA was ok except the Directorate for International Programmes lacked quality leadership from the polish lady that was in charge. The Board in USA was excellent. And the Advocacy unit was excellent.
The work culture in our office was excellent and hardest part was fundraising for staff costs. Never easy. The most enjoyable part was seeing very poor families having improved shelter; these are extremely poor families and now have a house with concrete floor, roofing sheets etc and the joy they show. We connected piped water to poor communities and it was a joy seeing the families access water- reminding me of my childhood walking kilometres to fetch water before going to school.
ProsTouching hearts, changing lives, nice team
ConsInternational programmes unit short sighted

outstanding experience
You get to go to other countries and build a house for a family. You also do some fundraising activities at several events in school. You learn about teamwork too.
