the people you worked with made it everything otherwise the place can be dull and boring. if you have a good manger then it'll be even better. overall decent place to work if you want to constantly hustle to make a simple paycheck
Learned a lot, great employer, really cares about their employees wellness. Worked with residents in the exercise room, writing them up exercise prescriptions to follow to keep up with strength.
it's great starting with the morning meetings getting pumped up and focused on the goal throughout the day. There is always something to do, I was always busy and talking with members it's about meeting peoples needs and doing it while having fun and making good money so I can be with family or friends and meet new ones as well. I would love to be employed by the again and stay and build a career.
It is a fun work place. Just isn’t suited for a consistent job that is paying what I beed to be able to afford to live. Hours aren’t flexible and need to find something that suits me better.
Strong core values, but integrity is sometimes flagging
Been with the company for a long time, It has definitely weathered the pandemic better than most in the industry, but the cracks are beginning to show under the stress. They have made strides towards diversity and equity in the workplace, but they are finding it hard to keep up with changing dynamics in the industry. The sheer size and immensity of the company has hampered it's versatility and makes all of it's innovations seem clumsy by comparison and their platitudes seem a little insincere. The hours are flexible, the education opportunities are well-supported (better in the past 2 years), and you get first hand experience in seeing the impact your work have on people's lives!
chill and relax place at the time before it went under, the manager there was cool and chill and didn't let to much things get pass him at the time. It had different company coming in out to help grow the gym but it was more of a distractions.

good experience as part time job
i worked in the reception area as costumer service.
it was my first experience in sales as well.
i took part time job there because i was teaching in the morning.
i learned to Welcome visitors by greeting them, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries and to learn on a specific software and to organize the files .
Fun working environment, not good for those who like to leave as soon as their shift ends
Days are very structured, planned out from the moment you get there until you leave. You have to be able to change plans and run with it on the fly because you never know what may disrupt your flow.
As a fitness advisor you talk to many people during the day, I learned that its very important to err on the side of caution and approach each new person with respect. When you speak to people, always remember intent vs impact. You may think its harmless but the person across from you could become offended, then a sale is lost or a bad taste is left for that client.
In any workplace there are managerial flaws, GoodLife was no exception. There were days where I believed that things were approached in an inappropriate manner, however despite this, you become close with the GM and AGM because of how closely you work throughout your day.
The hardest part about working at GoodLife is when you are scheduled to work an 8hr shift, something comes up in between which causes a schedule shuffle, all clerical work gets pushed to the end of the night. Clerical work is expected to be done throughout the day as it becomes available to do so, however, sometimes it just doesn't work out that way. The end of your shift is nearing, with a solid hour and a half of clerical work remaining, the expectation is that you have all this completed before you go home, even if it runs you out of your shift and as long as you're still there, you are expected to perform all other duties pertaining t
A day at Goodlife is never the same from the previous day. At one moment it can go from completely dead to a rush of people entering the gym. I started working for Goodlife in 2011, the company has helped me grow and develop my communication skills. I was able to quickly learn our check in system and our member information index. I very much enjoyed all my co workers and even training them in paperwork and handling large amounts of money.
Great place to gain experience and build a resume. Great opportunity to develop new skills and build confidence. Great opportunity for advancement and learn managerial skills.
There’s No work life balance!
High turn over
Bad managers and H/R
Unprofessional
All they care about are hitting the sales goals
Bad benefits unless you are management
Great work culture with lots of perks and room to move around. They cap your wage after a certain period. If you like sales, goodlife is the place for you (there is a lot of room to make money if you're good at selling).
Personal trainers should get paid more.
Overall, decent place to work!
ProsFree membership plus 1 extra, friendly co workers, meet lots of new people, relaxed atmosphere, provided T shirt uniforms, discounted personal training packages, easy to transfer clubs
ConsAir conditioning gets really cold after a while, some members can be hard to deal with, minimum wage
Just minded the children in the daycare. Was a nice experience. If I had the opportunity to do this job again, I’d love to do it. Also anything other opportunity for a job with the company I would see if I could I would.
Worst place to work at, this is not a job , could be a part time . No management, lack of experience. Weird employees, they just hire anyone from the street.

Healthy lifestyle and Goal oriented
I worked the 9am to 5pm shift. There was always paperwork to get done, phones to answer and people to greet, we were always busy.
Having many different kinds of people come in to workout, train, go over banking problems or just to check out the club gave me the skills to appropriately help everyone that step foot into the facility.
Since it is a fitness environment some people were more shy than others so I knew it was my job, as the first face they see walking in, to make sure I am high energy, always positive and make sure they feel comfortable. Some people came in very focused and no time to talk, just get their workout in and leave. In those situations I made sure to always greet them and get what ever they needed done as efficiently as I could.
My co-workers were usually pretty great. Never had many issues with any of them. Because it got so busy at times I usually would focus on what I know I had to get done. Any serious problems I encountered I spoke with management.
The hardest part of the job was around 4PM when we would get a rush of people coming from work at once.
Having to scan everybody's key tags individually, fixing banking issues if the system told us, answering 3 phone calls coming in at once, changing television stations, grabbing Personal trainers for their clients and making sure we always had fresh clean towels for those who pay for that service. all of this at once. It did make time go by fast and alot of clients that came in were quite understandi
ProsThe kids, Peoples fitness goals, new people all the time, goal oriented environment
ConsNot enough people behind the desk.
