Overall Reviews at Gold's Gym

High pressure job
I was in the sales department. Commission only. I was new to the area and didn’t have any local connections. I couldn’t pull the numbers that were required, so I became a fitness instructor instead.
ProsFree membership
ConsCan’t make a living in fitness unless you own the place.

Great place to work!
Very great place to work. Was able to work my way up from working in the Kid's Club to being the General Manager over one of the facilities. I have been with the company for a little over 11 years and would continue with the company if my location was not closing down.

Great equipment high staff turnover
Go work somewhere else even better stay out of the fitness industry. Everyone is a shark! They teach you how to be one!!! Do not ask for a day off in January. If you are a personal trainer you better be a salesman as well!

Not great
The managers were not professional and the gym was run poorly. The staff was always looking for people to work there was evident favoritism and lots of gossip behind the scenes

Great starter gym for Personal Trainer
I started off my personal training career with Gold's Gym. It's a great place to start if you are just getting into the Personal Training world. Pay is mediocre- they take about 65 percent of your session pay. If you work 55 sessions in a two week pay period you get at 400 dollar bonus. Management changed 5 times since starting there, so it made it hard to create a good team culture.
ConsNo part time benefits, long hours

Fun Job
Great workplace for customer service experience. Always striving to create a fun, encouraging, fitness oriented environment for employees. Not very much potential for growth within the company, but overall a great learning environment. The most enjoyable part of the job is being able to work so closely with members and guests in hopes of making their experience a positive one. Each work day is different than the last and I gained an exponential amount of administrative knowledge.

The Gym is Great, the company is shady
The upper level management is disconnected from the daily gym environment. They don't believe in promoting from within and loyalty means nothing to them. Profit margin is all they care about.

Mostly good experience
Working here was good for the most part. My coworkers were really nice and supportive. The management however was somewhat poor. The manager for golds gym was not very understanding when it came to the weather.
