Busy-good
I enjoy my customers. They come in and you start to know them by name. I meet so many different people. I find it interesting some of them come in and it makes my day . You're not ringing up their items. You're hopefully kind of making them feel taken care of. Every customer is important and making them feel valued for coming in and leave feeling all situated whether its asking them if they need a napkin or a fork and reminding them that an item they are buying is $2.67 and that for two its only 3.21 with tax included. Giant Eagle has free coffee and fountain drinks for our VET it feels good to be able to thank them for their service.Customer seem appreciate little things like that. It important every customer has a good experience.
ProsDiscount on fountain drinks and coffee

grocery store
I had several positions at this employer. Started as a part-time overnight cashier, then front end co-ordinator, service desk and cash office cashier, overnight produce clerk and overnight grocery stock clerk. The benefits and pay were typical of such an organization. There was ample opportunity for advancement and mobility within the company.

Great team of co-workers
I have a great team of co workers and managers that really help create an enjoyable work environment. Everyone has everyone else's back. Management has a hands-off approach - they are there for you but do not hover over you. Makes you want to go the extra mile.

Decent Job, So-So Culture
I like my job well enough, but the culture is not a good fit for me. They focus on team building activities, but do not encourage a team environment during everyday work. The salary is low and the benefits below average.

Good environment and team members.
The team and customers make Giant Eagle a great place to work. The limited hours (at my location) do not. If I could gain a full time position there, I wouldn't have a reason to leave.
ProsCustomer appreciation, team members, management
ConsNo full time opportunity

Great job for a child
Minimal compensation with ridiculous expectations. Mangers were condensing and at times downright unprofessional, pay was terrible and the direction/mission of the position frequently changed.
ProsCasual dress, but its all you can afford working there
ConsPay, unrealsitc and ever changing expectations

Laid back work environment filled with young adults to socialize with.
A typical day at work started by going to the break room and putting my belongings in my locker. A lot of the time there were snacks in the break room, like donuts or cake from the bakery. In the summer when ribs were on sale, there would always be some extras for the employees to eat during lunch. The hardest part of the job would be when the system would not let you override something and you would call for a manager and they would not always be available.
Prosgood lunches working in a grocery store.
Consonly 15 minute breaks, a lot of standing all day.

not sure how i feel
order, stock, block, close store, open store, get carts, let vendors in/out, make sure there are no problems, management could be better, workplace culture is decent, hardest part is not it get to you, most enjoyable part is going home
