Great Place to Work
I would have loved to finish my career at Fluor; I enjoyed it that much. I was provided the opportunity to work on many different projects, and expand my skill sets by working with and in different disciplines. The people I worked with changed from project to project, but were for the most part a pleasure to work with.
Fluor has been around a long time, and is rightfully proud of their reputation and heritage. However, when the business environment changed to mostly lump sum projects instead of reimbursable, that pride got in their way. It was now less about who did the best job, and more about who did it the cheapest. I believe an inability to shift their paradigm along with the business environment cost them a lot.
ProsLarge, proven company with lots of opportunity
ConsNot getting much work over the last few years

Poor work ethis
Cellphone use is rampant and violates safety. Hard work is not rewarded, a best buddy network that ignores constructive criticism or complaints. Poor performance is acceptable if you are friends with management. Several employees have very poor work ethics.

Competitive pay
Fluor took over CB&I on the project where I worked. Their pay and benefits were kept equal, so no complaints here. They tried to offer future positions once the project ended, so that was good.

Fluor is a good company to work for
Fluor is a good company to work for But the company is changing and losing its focus. They also do not put themselves in a position of strength in joint ventures. As a result, we’ve been unable to protect the quality of our work product. They also need to work on employee retention during downturns. I’m an 18 year highly knowledgeable employee that is out of work because there are no jobs to bill to. Fluor will call me back to work but I don’t know when. too. I’ll be called back

Great Company to work in
Great management, great growth, I am a clear example of someone who can enter a job as a labor and work hard to get to be a HSE site lead in years of learning and daily experiences at the field. Strongly recommend this company!!!

A challenging role with a great dynamic team
I worked as Welding and Inspection Manager on the RAPID Project as a part of the PMO on the Petronas Project in Johor Province in Malaysia.

Overseas Work differ from U.S. Work.
Company provides better working conditions for a overseas contract. Your work allowed you to show your expertise to others and as well you got to know others expertise. All colleagues picked were top notch in their fields. All expertises are required to be top notched to accomplish the company’s goals in a overseas contract. All must work together 24/7 to stay healthy and safe.
