I worked for a Ferguson distribution center for nearly 20 years and watched it go from a great place to work to a miserable daily experience. People were treated very unfairly, management would find every way they could to keep you from getting bonuses, write you up for the littlest of things like walking passed a piece of trash and not picking it up even if you didn’t see it. Little to no room for advancement, high turn over rate, hard to get time off but I’ve heard that has changed now, long hours, thick skin is a must and you must not be a person to get offended easily, management was unfriendly, unhelpful and hard to work with and the only reason I stayed as long as I did was because it was close to home, I was a single parent and I was actually making descent money, but ended up leaving due to a back injury. The management team I worked under before leaving was always out to get people, especially the ones they didn’t like to well. I know this because I was a supervisor for awhile and it was one of the most miserable positions to be because I always did my best to take care of the floor associates and the managers didn’t like that and I was told by the facility manager that I need to write people up more often and it didn’t matter for what reason, I couldn’t do it and was miserable the entire time I was a supervisor and the moment I had an opportunity to get out of my role I took it. The company itself finally did fire most of the upper management I worked under after I
ProsDecent pay and benefits
ConsPoor management, back breaking work, hostile work environment
I have had a great experience working for Ferguson Enterprises. They worked with me to figure out what I could do and then offered me the opportunity to work where I am strong. This made life better and work a lot less like work.
They work as a team and welcome the hard work of others.

Management was horrible to deal with
The Managers cuss everyone and definitely have favorites. They did not treat everyone the same AT ALL. It is a very “click” organization where the managers have their favorites and talk about everyone else behind their backs
I thought it was a great place to work at first. To advance is very cut throat process where you need to leave your integrity at the door. Don't waste your time.

Productive Atmosphere
I downloaded several daily reports that had to be tweaked and then uploaded and sent out to various branches in our districts. These were on a time limit deadline daily. Also, several monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly and bi-annual reports. These were all in Excel and Access.
I have gained more knowledge regarding Microsoft Access and a few more tips about Excel.
Management is easy to get along with and are family focused.
They try to have a lot of team time and team building activities.
I enjoy my co-workers as we try to be there for one another both at work and in personal areas of our lives.
ProsLearning new skills, flexibility with lunch times
Conscomputer speeds slow and lock up or throw you completely out often
The work and the hours aren't bad as long as you are fully supported by the team and especially management.
Sometimes the workload can be overwhelming but it can be done with the right support.
Previous company was acquired by Ferguson Enterprises
Do not care to comment on this company I did not work their long enough to provide an accurate review. Was let go because of the COVID-19 crises. They have good benefits..
Not a place too advance unless your family . There’s really not to much to say all I did was my job.was never shown I was needed never told thank you for my service to this company
Ferguson provided great training and support. I did not like the long days. It has been 7 years since I worked there, a lot could have easily changed since then.

Have better training with new people. And not throw them on the floor excepting them to know how to do everything. Managers need to be trained for management.

If you were in charge, what would you do to make Ferguson Enterprises, Inc. a better place to work?
Asked Nov 18, 2019
Reward employees based on the work they do, not just rewarding managers for the work their employees do. The counter sales team are the bread and butter of Ferguson, so add perks to that position to make it more desirable for people. Set aside certain branches that are exclusively for industry professionals and other branches exclusively for walk-in homeowners. Hire more people to work at the branch level so the stress levels are down. Yes, that means the bottom line might not be as large for a few years, but you'll have a stronger core of employees who are invested in the well-being of the company and want to care about its success
