District Management was seriously biased and Regional Management did not support high performance or acknowledge any wrongdoing of their direct report
A typical day at work started with prayer in my car due to the constant harassment by District mgmnt of my direct reports and/or myself. Background communications with others to report on my store in addition to insisting on which employees I should keep or trade with other store managers at a time when I needed the experienced mgrs to support ongoing performance improvements. I was sent to the store in the midst of a disaster in backroom operational functions and was promised that prior to my arrival it would be cleaned up and it was not. Leaving me with a mess upon arrival. There was rampant theft prior to my arrival leaving inventory a disaster and given the timing of my upgrade to store mgr left me with those results unfairly. Despite the fact that the store regularly received high performance in achieving company goals from headquarters I was "separated" within a moments notice, never received the promised support from District and never given an exit interview.....there is so much more but why bother at this point...except to say that the person who managed the store so poorly prior to my arrival was given another store ???

Company is not bad but Management is another story
Wasted 10 years of my life. And my generous thanks for 10 years ended with a demotion, pay cut, my safety at risk & relocation. When I left theft was at a full time high and I'm sure its gotten worse since I left. Management does not care about your safety, they're more concerned with the safety of the merchandise. Most enjoyable part of the job are the people you meet-- not those in management though. Typical retail job.

Very laid back
Working here is very laid back, but by all means, that doesn't mean were not sales driven. They work around family obligations and help you with achieving or advancing. Staff is like family, super friendly! Typical day would consist of doing paper work and lift conversions in the morning. Prepping deliveries, keeping sales goals up, and maintaining a friendly atmosphere.
ProsFlexible work schedule, advancement
ConsNot a lot of hours

Productive place to work
Not hard just keep an eye for things and maintain your section. Make sure you wear the proper clothing. Tell the managers in advance if you’re going to be late or have to call off, or need to switch yours hours with someone.

consists of walking in a cirlce
A typical day at work would be to clock in get your walkey talkey and ear piece and put it on and begin to ask the customers if they need help with anything. you might also be stocking the shoe boxes where they need to go and put new stuff out on to the floor for the customers.

Productive.
First job a typical day was fun at Famous Footwear. I learned how to do inventory and check stock at other stores. I also learned how to watch for theft better. Management was great.

Productive workplace
A typical day at work for me was greeting customers, and trying to help them find the items they needed or wanted. Along with selling on top of the sale they intended. I would answer phones, place or complete special online orders, and package up orders to be shipped. I ran as head cashier for my associate team and made good numbers. I enjoyed helping people and directing people to the specific item they would have in mind, and the hardest part was deterring the theft without approaching them inappropriately in the eyes of the company.
ProsHigher pay than minimum wage.
ConsInconsistent breaks, short shifts, lack of available hours.
