You can meet life long friends. Fellow employees are great to work with and the families ee service. great
The company is a decent company to work for with advancement opportunities. Great place to get work experience that can lead to future opportunities for promotion in and outside the agency. However, this type of work is for people who like helping people who want to change their lives .
ProsGood health insurance
ConsManagement treatment towards certian workers are not necessarily good. A lot of favoritism

Exciting, fast paced, impactful job
If you enjoy children and young adults and have great companion for their challenges and the ability to collaborate with a team then DCF is a great place to work. It will be the hardest, most stressful job of your life and that’s what it takes to change behaviors in youth who have had the worst upbringing.

If you have a degree don’t waste your time here. There is a glass ceiling for success. Many think if they can get there foot in the door they can move to a better opportunity. Nope!

Rewarding
Working for the Department of Children and Families Access program as an economic self-sufficiency specialist it's very rewarding as you are able to help children and their families to provide food for themselves. Also, being able to provide medical insurance for those who are unable to afford their own insurance helps them to remain healthy and their everyday lives.

Child protective invedtigator
Competent role to complete if you are human services driven, understand humans are unpredictable , abs accomplishing your job entails meeting people where they mentally and socially are to get your questions answered and de-escalate the initial fear and anger due to your presence at their home.
ProsEveryday is different.
ConsTime frames on closing cases, A lot of paperwork if your care to properly do your job and care to not leave children at risk

Fast paced
This was a very challenging job. Fast paced. Long work days. Protecting the children and ensuring they had a safe place to live was the most rewarding part of this job. I held training on the new codes and regulations and attended court hearings. I learned how to manage my time and meet deadlines. Seeing the children being well cared for was the most rewarding part of this job.
ProsProtecting the children
ConsBig case loads
