Duties

The clinical assistant is responsible for providing clinical support to patients and families in a variety of settings. This may include supporting medical, occupational therapy and physical therapy. The position requires an individual who has excellent communication skills with patients, families, caregivers, physicians, nurses, other health professionals and others. Must be detail-oriented, organized, self-motivated and have strong organizational skills and be capable of meeting deadline requirements while maintaining high standards of quality service delivery.

Detailed job duties include:

• Provide clinical support to the patient and family in a safe, efficient manner.
• Provide direct care for patients with complex medical conditions, including but not limited to: acute pain, chronic illness or other health related disorders.
• Analyze symptoms using appropriate diagnostic tests.
• Perform routine laboratory work on patients that require special attention.
• Support physician orders from physicians.
• Review all medications prescribed by the doctor.

Qualification

• Must be a graduate of an accredited clinical assistant program
• Minimum one year experience as clinical assistant in the field, with at least two years working within a healthcare setting or equivalent combination of education and work experience
• Ability for self-directed learning
• Strong interpersonal skills including good verbal/written communications skills
