Overall Reviews at Chevron

fun workplace
People are very friendly and eager to let you succeed however in my opinion If you work upstream it is bitter working atmosphere than midstream,
it feels like too much competition on the refinery and people are less friendly than the Upstream

Productive and fun place to work
Great place to work an build career.
Diversity is evident both at Local SBUs and the International SBUs.
I started work as Plant Operator/technician, but grew with time and experience. After 10 years of work there I had position as the Operations Support Engineer in Escravos Tank-Farm, coordinating maintenance based and small capital projects for smooth Oil & Gas Operations; then I worked 4 years from the Chevron Downtown Houston Office as Facilities Engineer on the Chad - Cameroon Assets up till April 2010; and concluded last 10 years of my career with the CALAEP (Chevron African and Latin American Exploration & Production) Inc, Chevron Nigeria Ltd in May 2016. I occupied a couple of job with titles changing with increasing capacities. My last position with Chevron Nigeria was as the Senior Construction Engineer on the Escravos Gas to Liquid Plant - a Refinery style plant for the best quality diesel, condensate, Naphtha and Waxes. I coordinated construction works leading to the start-up and smooth operation of the plant. I also started prefab works for spools and non shut down jobs towards the 1st Turn-around maintenance to de-bottleneck the plant.
All of the above were great opportunities and diverse exposures to grow career and confidence. That is typical of any professional with Chevron SBUs.

Chevron is a good company to work if you are not much after remuneration. There is diversity in workforce we learn from each other but will like management to improve much on take home. we have free lunch, field workers are accommodated and he have lunch breaks and we have health insurance

Experiencing a lot of cultural change
They employ and contract smart people, however, decisionmaking is slow due to the size, scale, and complexity of their organizational structure and legacy governance. This can make it difficult to progress against strategic goals at times. It is an exciting time to work or support Chevron as they continue to innovate in the back office and in the field. They are in the process of shifting towards a more Agile and Gig Economy culture so being flexible to adjust to continuous change is a plus. Every company has a good, bad and ugly side, however, my experiences as a consultant to Chevron have always landed on the "good" side.

Good Work, Good Company but some FTE's make contractors feel small
Great company, great benefits and work-life balance Good culture except for the way employees treat contractors Contractors to some are third class citizens who the employees will dump on whenever they feel like it

Corporate culture
Managers are on promotion path so they're rarely in any one position for more than 18mths. Lots of turnover at middle management level. Each new manager has "New" way of doing things. Customers suffer.

Productive and fun place to work in
Chevron is an international company with a worldwide reputation for integrity and operational excellence. This attribute gives any employee worldwide recognition and respect anywhere they go. Most days are "high pitched" as the assets are aged, field operations make a severe demand for support operations, thus requiring regular maintenance. Personnel are civil and generally supportive as part of the Operational Excellence culture. Regrettably the external environment is relatively turbulent, placing an additional burden on company and its employees to help ameliorate public government responsibilities. Operational issues do erupt every now and then, but these were timely resolved without any glitches.
