Overall Reviews at Carlson Wagonlit Travel

Until covid CWT was ahead of the normal.
I worked for CWT for 15 years. Then came covid. As a senior international agent the volume was nearly nonexistent. I was proud to work for CWT and will miss the supportive management, flexibility to work from home and the security I felt .
ProsFlexibility and support

No
Poor pay, poor benefits, poor management, poor communication, no training.
Lacked compensation for travel to and from job sites. This was eventually resolved. Company did not value employees
ConsBased on midwest cost of living

Great work/life balance,
Carlson was a great company to work for, they have a great teamwork environment. Managers are always easy to approach and work with. They are concerned about your work life as well as home life balance, if they can assist.
ProsGreat people to work with
Cons.Sometimes there is not enough hours in the day to get everything done

In declining mode
When people grumble on the floor, because the technology sucks, but any mistake gets blamed on the employee. However, the scripts they develop are of the lowest quality I have experienced in my years in the industry. Management has a hard time relating to people on the floor and even though you give them feedback, remain utterly surprised you tell them you are unhappy or are about to resign. Many currently on the work floor are looking for new opportunities, but they can't afford to rehire. The mistakes their scripts cause in payouts, gives them no opportunity to grow.
ProsNice office
ConsNo work life balance, expensive benefits, low quality work tools

Booked corporate travelers air/car and hotels on business trips.
My experience included networking with secretaries on behalf of the travelers when booking their international and domestic travel arrangements. This also included visa preparation and travel insurance. My most enjoyable part of the job was ensuring that the secretaries were kept up to date with the latest in travel changes and that their travelers came back from their trip hassle free.
ProsProviding the best knowledge in air travel product to my clients, so they are able to travel in comfort.
ConsWhen extreme weather permits changes in pre-organised travel.

Unfortunately, has become bureaucratic management
Co-workers are excellent, hard-working, caring employees.
Upper management culture has changed in past 2 years to be bureaucratic and all about the bottom line only.
Prossome travel industry discounts (hotels, cars)
Conshours cut, opportunities to advance lacking

Great team work, productive and fun
Reviewing my work for the day sometimes multi tasking, coordinating flights from various place of the world for different travellers.
The hardest part of this job was finishing on time, handling cal after call but it was manageable
Dealing with constant changes from travellers was another hard thing but manageable, practised much patience .
The best thing for me always is working with people. Love the public.
