Example Care Assistant job summary
Our full-service home healthcare organization is searching for a compassionate and experienced care assistant to join our growing team. The successful applicant will be providing daily support to clients in their homes. Responsibilities will include everything from helping clients bathe, dress and exercise to meal prep and above all, companionship. Superior interpersonal skills and unwavering patience are essential qualities for this role as you may act as a liaison for our clients, their family, and their medical team. Preference will be given to candidates who have completed a Personal Care Assistant course.
Care Assistant responsibilities
This section should convey the most important duties for the role. Highlight any responsibilities that may be unique to the role or particularly interesting for potential applicants. It’s also beneficial to describe how the role fits into the larger organization.
Example Care Assistant responsibilities
- Assist client with daily personal hygiene activities (brushing teeth, bathing, toileting)
- Prepare meals and ensure client is eating a balanced diet
- Take note of any unusual behavior, eating habits, or pain that could indicate a greater medical issue
- Ensure client takes all of their prescribed medications and arrange for refills when necessary
- Transport and accompany client to doctor’s appointments and ensure they communicate clearly and accurately with their medical team
- Assist client with performing daily exercises when needed
Care Assistant requirements
This section should list the essential qualities of an ideal candidate. Include previous work experience, education or achievements that would be beneficial. And list any preferred hard and soft skills.

- A positive attitude and a genuine interest in offering support to individuals
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Ability to read basic patient vital signs
- Completion of Personal Care Assistant course strongly preferred
- 1-3 years experience in a customer facing role
