great place to start off if you want to further yourself in management and branch off into other corporate fields. a little organization is needed as they are new to the US.
Calzedonia is a great company. Calzedonia’s management is not. Micromanaging is a serious issue. You don’t matter unless you are a brand manager and up. Not even DMs have a say. Everyone answers to someone else . The stores are small so storage can get a little hectic. They will blame you for it even though it’s not your fault. Management has weird controlling behaviors, ex; you tell them something that’ll benefit the store and makes sense they will tell you no because they didn’t come up with the idea. The roles/rules are broken when it benefits them and them only. Instead of coming in and locking up they will have an associate to close up.Benefits are nice, but when you’re getting disrespected is it really worth it? Uniforms never match the weather.
I have to say it, this job gave me the worst anxiety attacks I’ve ever had. Let me just say that i don’t think the company is all bad, you have great benefits and good commission, there’s always some kind of contests where you can get bonus. Unfortunately management was terrible, my supervisor didn’t know how to talk to her team, it was often rude and condescending. They treat you like a robot without emotions or a life, we would get our schedules hours before a new week with no time at all to have a life. You could not ask for any day off no matter the day, you would have to ask two months in advance for any day off, and still get treated horrible about it. Selling tactics were old fashioned and annoying. And every time a person left the store without buying, management would start harrasing you. I think in other circumstances I would’ve really enjoyed working for the company but there’s some nasty people working there.
When I started at calzedonia group, I used to have experience in customer service but with restaurant history, so it was my first job as retailer assistant
It's a multinational company that gives a lot of opportunities to their employees to grow. Really healthy environment to work, no pressure and a lot of understanding.
the upper management are very supportive and helpful but too supportive, where they are there 3 time a week in the store. They focus more on making money that the growth of there employees
Reputable company but it needs sooo much work! Brand Managers for the U.S want to incorporate procedures that are the Calzedonia way that are probably effective methods in Europe but aren’t practical within the U.S. There’s a huge lack of knowledge of the retail industry within the U.S. They should be open to feedback from the employees in this country who’ve worked this industry for years and have the experience! After all, this is why you hired us right?
District managers are involved in their stores which serves as great support. However, compared to other companies, they are way TOO involved and it becomes overwhelming and makes Store Managers and Assistant Store Managers feel micromanaged and incompetent. Others from corporate are also too involved in the stores and it’s extremely overbearing.
BADLY needs a visual team that will go from store to store to handle visuals, marketing and all things related. Visual procedures are next to impossible and you’re expected to just figure it out. Instructions are emailed but are very difficult to comprehend and mostly written in Italian.
Stores need an office space with a working computer and conventional method of emailing! Management needs a private place to conduct paperwork, reports, payroll, scheduling, HR work, and to conduct conversations with employees as well as other company personnel that could very well be confidential!
Company also has a high turnover. The process for selecting employees is not working. Th
Communication from management and HR is poor. Responsibilities not clear. Rules not clear until they are broken. The selling culture is to force customers to try items on, and keep bringing them things to try on while they are in the fitting room. Be extremely pushy and dont ask to measure bra size, just do it. This makes most customers extremely uncomfortable. Basically do anything to make the sale. Conversion rate calculation is extremely inaccurate leading to reprimands.
save yourselves. incompetent, italian favoritism, zero communication. they will treat you like dirt and then blame you for being the victim. everything is illegal. hr nightmare of a workplace.

Questions And Answers about Calzedonia Group
How do you feel about the future of Calzedonia Group?
Asked Jan 17, 2019
They need to clean house. The turnover is too high because the people who are in charge are crazy, incompetent and under-qualified. You have no loyal staff, new employees every month. Success in the US will be impossible until you find experienced candidates who have rightfully earned the management positions to work for Calzedonia. These store managers and district managers are not holding up Calzedonia values. This will tarnish the Calzedonia name... it’s already beginning. Not just disgruntled employees but also customers. Customers who have complaints can’t even get in contact with corporate because they are so disorganized. Coming to the US and letting these evil people run this company WILL RUIN Calzedonia’s reputation no matter their successes overseas.

No, i think it was about favoritism.
Answered Mar 17, 2021
Absolutely not. One store manager was hired because she was a friend. Definitely isn’t fair for those who deserve and actually earn a store manager title.
