The admin team is supportive of teachers. They are punitive instead of supportive. They treat you like robots. I worked for the company for 7 years thinking it will change and get better.

Direct care is challenging at best, hours 12 hour shifts, pay is low benefits are not good. Rewards are seen or felt through patient progress. There is not alot of room for promotion or salary increases.

I truly enjoyed what I did for a living amongst my children and co-teacher. I was unable to find work/life balance due to daily commute.

Different centers, different rules
My center was laid back and everyone knew the routines by heart. However, whenever we were sent to another center to help out, it was like they were like a totally different facility. Each center does things differently, which shouldn't be happening because we're all supposed to have the same training and offer the same experience.

Definitely the pay.

Low pay for everything that is expected of you. High turnover but even when you do have the staff you have to place half on call because you can only have so many labor hours used, but then when people call off those staff already have plans, so then the teachers that do show up to work are the ones to suffer and have to work overtime. favoritism is rampant, yet we are told it's all in our heads ineffective communication nobody in management is ever on the same page all these surveys to try to fix the problem, but none of them actually seem to matter

If you were in charge, what would you do to make Bright Horizons Family Solutions a better place to work?

I would keep the ratios low in the preschool classrooms, I would set up a planning time schedule, I would give teachers 15 minute breaks, I would have the sandboxes professionally cleaned every month, I would show my staff how much I value and care about them every week. I would be encouraging and kind to my staff and not play favorites. I would listen to my teaching staffs ideas and implement them and I would pay my staff what their worth and increase their pay yearly from $1.00 to $2.00 depending on how well they did on their performance review.

I have had two interviews at Bright Horizons. The first one was really bizarre. There were two of us being interviewed at the same time. The Director and her assistant asked us questions. It wasn't so bad, but there was no explanation as to why they did two at the same time. The second time it was about the same only there was just me. The questions are about experience, and what you would do in certain situations. Both times I visited a classroom. The first time I was offered a job, but it was to part-time to be a choice for me. The second time I felt like I almost got a bum's rush away from the class I was visiting. I have no idea why. I barely got a chance to interact with anyone. Not sure I would try again.

Stop protecting people who shouldn't be protected. When reporting issues that were happening at my center, HR told me that people have brought it to their attention for a few years. Refuse to work for a company that don't care for the children's well-being.

Even though there is a shortage of teachers don't promise new people all the favorite shifts. Staff who have put their time in would like to work these shifts too.
