Great company to work for -wish they hadn't been bought out
a small company that was eventually bought out by Knoll Labs.
Everything about this company was great. Our DSM really knew his stuff -how to run a district, knew how to teach us how to sell, etc. etc. Our district was much more like a family than a district. And so we were and stayed one of the top districts in the country for the entire time that we were together.
Prosbest company i ever worked for
Consthey were bought out in 1996 so the culture of the company changed

Great Company that is meeting the needs of the community.
I started with Walgreens right out of law school. I had the privilege of watching the Company grow. A typical day for me involved giving advice to my staff and Company executives on employment related issues, as highlighted in my resume.
ProsCommitment to providing quality healthcare services to the community.
ConsUndergoing a lot of change as the Company becomes global.
Very structured, organized and conservative corporate environment to work. Not much interaction with upper management to understand changing marketplace and industry eco space.
ProsFlexible in start and leave hours
ConsLack of advancement opportunities

sucks
I worked as a Beauty Advisor at Walgreens. I admit that experiences may vary across these stores, but the pay was really low for the amount of work that a Beauty Advisor does on top of the work of others in the store. Management does not care about your well-being.

An average retail experience
I believe that this is an average retail experience. There is lots of team building and working together to accomplish the goals of the store. The hours are based on when the store is open, so your schedule is all over the place.
This company pushes you to achieve goals faster and more diligently and accurately than you thought you could. If you want to be stretched and feel a constant sense of challenge and fulfillment throughout your workday, this is a great environment for you!
I had a good experience overall. One bad phase of bullying by a manager but that was dealt with quite quickly and that person was dealt with. I felt supported in general throughout.
The job is enjoyable but for what you are expected to do and the responsibility involved the hourly rate is terrible. Add to that the covid19 pressures and understaffing it has really took its toll on all staff. Boots higher management dont care about there staff, its all about £££and items dispensed. There is no staff care, no help with staff stress, no bonus, no financial assistance when some stsff are ask to go home to get covid test but not paid especially when they havnt been with the company over 3 years. All of these reasons have made me resign. All passion for my job lost.
ProsInteresting work
ConsFinishing at 6 is an issue for children in childcare facilities who close at 6. Hourly rate terrible, understaffed, no perks unless paid for through benefits box
Happy person, which love to hard work, I have eye for detail. When I am happy, everyone around me are happy. Give me a chance and I will show you, how much I am good.

Easy to Develop your career
Always give you opportunities to develop yours skills within different areas of the business. However the company is very understaffed due to how the business wants to run. A lot of complaints are due to not having enough staff available.
ProsStaff Discount and Double Staff Discount around Christmas
typical day would include, customer service making sure the highest customer care is taking by serving customers, checking stock levels.
advising customers on health and well-being, items such as electrical and fragrances.
Management are very approachable and in making sure we have full tools to do are jobs at the highest standard, understanding any difficult issues and making sure we are happy.
the co-workers make my day more enjoyable as i get great help and understanding from senior members of the staff. the hardest part is if there is an issue within store such as, till point servers and or member of staff been treated with abuse by customers is not called for. .
Be professional in work & be a bit 😜 in what’s left in your life😉.
At it’s height I would work a 16 hour shift over night, as I was the conduit between the contractor and store management team. Business protection was paramount ensuring that the store was ready for trading in all respects the following morning. Learnings came in the shape of allowing enough time and space for specialised trades to complete their activities. Being aware that the people you are working with may have a limited threshold in terms of capabilities and respecting that. Communicating with local management teams and Regional personnel are crucial to the successful outcome of the scheme. Hardest part of the job is the separation from family, however that was the nature of the work. Enjoyable part of the job was self the satisfaction that you could walk away from the completed operation knowing that the trading business had minimal affect from the disruption and activities of the out of hours schemes. As stated protecting the business was paramount, so attention to detail when I wrote the Business Protection Plan for both contractor and store activities was key to ensuring a successful outcome.
However key to all of this was communicating with all key players on and off site, meaning keeping Regional/Store Management personnel up to speed with the progression of the scheme together with any difficulties or issues that arise so that they are aware of and can act upon to minimise disruption to our customer base. What I did learn over the 23 years of working with in the
I started off part-time in the store in my local town and enjoyed it for the first month or so. The work was stressful as there was never enough staff to serve the number of customers. Often found myself trying to be in 5 places at once and then being moaned at by customers for not being able to serve them.
Was later offered to train to be a Pharmacy Dispenser. However, I was never able to complete my tests or study because there was no staff to cover the tills and I was still doing Customer Assistant tasks rather than pharmacy tasks.
Manager then told me out-of-the-blue that the store had overspent on their salaries so I didn't have a job there anymore. So I would have to transfer to a different store if I wanted to stay with Boots. Obviously I accepted because I needed money.
Managers were ok for the most part however I was treated like a criminal when I had one sick day.
When I transferred to the new store, I was not shown where anything was and the manager just dumped me on the tills when the store was rammed. Because I did not know where anything was, I looked like an idiot infront of customers. One particular Pharmacist also reguarly embarrassed me infront of customers by moaning at me for not doing something right even though I was training.
Most of the women are very cliquey and arrogant. Only interested in themselves and think they are better than everyone. Found some older colleagues to be very patronising towards younger colleagues.
Once I finally
If i could give less than 1 star i would.
just read most of the other reviews from across the country it seems to be awful everywhere with no signs of changing.
do not apply unless you really REALLY! need the money.

Questions And Answers about Boots UK
What tips or advice would you give to someone interviewing at Boots UK?
Asked Aug 24, 2016
I can only speak as a pharmacy technician. But If you're a father with young kids, you'll probably hardly have time to see them. Since they will make you close the store as many nights a week as they can, meanwhile the single mothers get off at 3 or 4pm. And Im left alone with a pharmacist until 9:30, doing the work of three people. Totally sexist. And if you complain, they view you as a trouble maker.
