Boot barn
Working there is alright other than the assistant manager. Not a very joyful nor happy place to work. Not very willing to help with family problems or open for any kind of help.

Positive enviroment
During my time at the Boot barn I learned how to deal with stressful client/customer situations. For 2 years I did shipping and receiving, now I work on the floor as a sales associate. My management is great, very helpful and knowledgeable. Hardest part of the job is trying to keep every customer happy.

productive safe environment fun place to work friendly
Mon-Fri is usually slow i learn new things sometimes managers are nice friendly your surroundings feels safe the hardest part of the job maybe costumer complains because sometimes as an associate you really cant offer them anything until a manager comes so you cant really do much .
Prosfun nice coworkers

Great workplace with plenty of communication with people
Typical day at work is filling out paperwork, making sure everything is set and ready for the next day. I learned that you always have to learn the ways around everything to get where you want to be in life. The management was great, always understanding when things happen in your life. The workplace culture is easy going, everyone is different and as a team everyone works together to accomplish a task. The hardest part of the job is not having a consistent schedule, and always changing at last minute. The most enjoyable part of the job would have to be working with customers and always learning new information that helps me with my job.

Unfortunate that HR allows for management to get away with constant harassment. It's also unfortunate that the only HR is located in Irvine California. If HR was available, 'in state' (or per district) this problem would be resolved. Also, this is specialty retail, not wal-mart. Raises should be based on percentage.

Fun high energy work place
The company is very wonderful and treats the employees greatly. The manager at the Reno location is absolutely fantastic. I would go back in a heartbeat.

It's a job.
This job is easy to get. It offers low pay and almost zero opportunity for advancement. There is far more focus on recruitment than retention. The work is easy. The supervision is predictably uptight.

Country Life!
Western and Work wear! Knowledge of Western boots helpful. Knowledge of work boots helpful. Western clothing and work attire, also women's and children's fashions as well. Toys. Jewelry. Home decor. Perfume and cologne. Lots to fill that country lifestyle!
ProsManagement is wonderful!
ConsStrict attendance policy.

Great Workplace. Not the best hours.
great place to work if you are in school or have another job and just need another part time job to make extra money. You are also capable of moving up through the company if you would like to.

Great people to work
Great coworkers and relationships with certain people I worked with. The MGMT were good when they liked you but once u got on their bad side you stayed on that side. They don't handle communication with employees too much or well.

Questions And Answers about Boot Barn

If you were in charge, what would you do to make Boot Barn a better place to work?
Asked Oct 2, 2016
First of all, I would make the starting pay more and hire more quality instead of quantity. Be a little more discretionary on what type of people that are hired or make a stricter policy in order to weed out employees that are not going to take their job seriously. Offer incentives for employees to be able increase their pay by giving bonuses for performance or daily goals reached and attendance etc. since the starting pay is so low. I would promote based on skill and quality of daily work performance as well as seniority not based on who is favored. Decrease the drama especially among the leads. Enforce more professional behaviour this way the people working under them see the example being set. I would also encourage upper management to show that they care about their employees. Make them feel like they are people and not just numbers.

What tips or advice would you give to someone interviewing at Boot Barn?
Asked Jul 28, 2016
The interview, I felt went well, just being myself and giving my best answers to the pages of questions was what I did. I dressed the part and wore my Durango boots because I really do enjoy the western wear. I am very familiar with the brands they carry as well, but the questions felt like I couldn’t get my chance to shine, so make sure to really try to stand out even if it doesn’t match those random questions.

Honestly, if you are wanting to work in a warehouse the only plus to Boot Barn verses much better paying warehouse jobs in Wichita is the fact that it is climate controlled. If you are just wanting to gain warehouse work experience it may be a good place to start. Definitely not recommended for long term employment or someone seeking a career in the warehouse industry. Laid back environment for the most part
