Poor Management
They will lie to you about getting a new position and will not allow you to make your own decisions and they be little you and they tell you one thing and say something completely different

Overall is excellent company to work for
I strongly believe that the survival of this company going forward lies so we based a lot on the employees and how they treat the customers that come into our stores

Good experience
Good experience, not to much growth. But fun place to work, co workers are supportive as well as supervisors. Flexable when it came to work & school balance

Stagnant
Working at BBB was great in the beginning when business was changing. There was positivity in the air. Then it made a quick drop and from there no matter what changes were made it just wasn't enough to get us out of the hole.

A Good Company with Good People
When I worked for Bed Bath & Beyond, I enjoyed being able to genuinely care for my customers because the company genuinely cared and wanted to do everything possible to make their shopping experience as easy and efficient as possible. When customers could not be satisfied, I could be certain that my manager on duty would step in for me and have my back. The people that I worked with were wonderful and they were all very supportive of one another.

IT Management
Worst I have ever been a part of - lack of people skills and running a department - you fail on projects and get promoted - accountability is lacking and favoritism prevails....

Awesome environment, but poor pay raises for the ones who do their job well!
Bottom line, they have you learn so much. Usually both sides of the store once you get down your first side. You learn about all types of products, specific brands, models, etc. and they way they work, what makes two different from one another and how to question/converse your customer to identify their needs to recommend the best product and add-ons they may need. They push being a wedding consultant on you, especially if you’re a woman out on the sales floor or if you’re in a smaller volume store. For all the things you learn and the expectations of being a quality associate in “the only store of its kind,” they sure as heck don’t pay/give raises adequately to the employees who learn their trade(s) well. I loved working here, but the pay sucked. I started at $8.75 in 2012 & ended at $13.15(maybe?) in 2019. The major change in pay rate was the fact that the minimum wage hike went into effect.. I got a whole like $0.20 for the hike for my being there for so many years. Was ridiculous.

Not for me
This isn't a bad place to work if you are young and without family. They spring mandatory overtime on you literally the same day. As a single parent, that's absolutely difficult, if not impossible, to accommodate and it feels like management has no respect for your personal life.

it is a place to work if there is nothing else
This is a job that I worked really hard & other associates would screw off & do absolutely nothing. I have not worked with this company in more than a year. I only worked part time. 20 hours a week if that.2

Good and Bad
It is great due to the co-workers being extremely friendly! Company overall cares about attendance and does not work with family emergencies. Had my daughter and it was a headache getting maternity leave to be paid for an extended period passed 6 weeks. Still got an occurrence for friend passing as it is not immediate family. A co-worker received an occurrence for leaving work early from her having a panic attack and paramedics coming. Only get perks if it benefits the company as a whole. New CEO came and everyone was laid off within 3-4 months afterwards.

This is retail! Sometimes very busy, sometimes slow. Mostly minimum wage.
Retail can be great. Can be not great. Some managers are good, some aren't. Some days are good, some aren't. Learn how to multi task, work hard, get along with co workers and customers. Have fun. Ask questions. Do your job. Learn.
ProsExperience gained.
ConsIrregular schedule.
