Management team was not supportive
In my last year with Balfour Beatty Communities (total 12 years), I was promoted to management. The stress level became unbearable and I resigned 1 year after accepting the management position.

Talented people, positive goal based culture
Global giant of a company and quite progressive in their values of employees, safety on the construction sites, company culture/attitude in its approach to protecting the environment in how it does business. Loads of talented co-workers. If you work hard you will be respected, not held back. and will likely find personal and professional satisfaction with this team-oriented company.

Great place to work.
Company cares about their employees and their customers. My managers above me took care of me and the employees under my responsibility. Great experience working with Balfour Beatty Communities.

Struggles within "Commercial Div. Control & Multifamily Div."
Raleigh Commercial Division is a click. Either your in or your out.
If your new and experienced, watch out. Better off keeping your mouth shut and not saying anything or letting anyone know that you are capable. Its definitely a CYA environment. If your not a beer drinker, where you go out for beers with the hierarchy,your out. Your typical day starts at 6:30 am and runs to no earlier then 5:00 pm. Most days your there even later. Your also required to work at least every other Saturday ( 10 hrs.). I averaged no less then 65 Hrs. a week. We also had street closures that would require someone to be onsite. I had worked a couple of times 20+ hours straight. Do I think that all the areas within Balfour are like that. No. I met some really nice people that worked for Balfour when I was going to some of the training that they offered. I just think that the Raleigh Division has issues. The Raleigh Division also has a "us against them mentality" in regards to the subcontractors. Leads to a very poor work environment along with poor morale.

If you are an engineer then this may be a good place to work. However the Corporate office does not offer much room for growth. .

Good work place
Learned about the construction project of building highways and bridges. The company let you get the training for what you didn't know. Welding, saw cutting,etc.

Efficient and friendly workplace
All the workers were very friendly and they were all willing to assist you with anything you need help with. The food served was great quality and everyone works together well to get things done quickly!
