Great Professional Place of Employement
Averitt Express is one the best companies that I have ever worked for. , They require a high level of Professionalism but also treat employees with that same Professionalism. Employees are highly trained and are equipped to do their jobs.

Long Hours Alone
Spent long hours and holidays alone in your truck, sleeping in a different town or state everyday. No specific contact with management in person, just over the comdata, Never had to personally touch the freight, if so you got $50, if you had to wait for more than 8 hrs for them to load your truck you started to get $20 per hour.s
Prospay was good

Local management and service center staffs are great to work with throughout the company. Pricing dept/corporate office can be frustrating to work with in securing new business. Very inconsistent in pricing offered and company places low to medium value on sales force.
ProsGood service organization in my opinion best in LTL/truckload industry
ConsCorporate office has no interest in paying top dollar for great sale sperformance.

Call Center Representative | Cookeville, TN | Feb 20, 2019
Call Center
Poor management, greedy executives, that would rather be short-handed than to spend a buck. Company profit sharing drives everything. They discourage showing up early or staying late. Turnover is high, favoritism is rampant. The use of "leader" to label supervision, is an absolute joke. Leaders only look out for themselves and not their people. Call them supervisors or managers, some of these "leaders" have no idea how to lead, but can manage just fine. The professional image policy should be revisited, the folks in the call center, who never see the customer, should not have a more strict policy than the drivers, who are the true face of the company
ProsGreat benefits package if you get to use it
ConsPoor Management, Little PTO

Is there a certain amount of guaranteed miles a week?
Asked Jun 17, 2017
Miles are about 1800 a week...very low. Started off around 2200 and slowly decreased. Same with my pay..
Answered Apr 8, 2020
Depends on if your fleet manager likes you. It's suppose to be anywhere from 1500-2500 miles a week guarantee but dont hold your breath getting it unless u have a great fleet manager

What is the work environment and culture like at Averitt?
Asked Jun 16, 2016
I just want to say that Averitt Express overall is a great company but this service center does not represent them higher standards like the other service centers do. There's something very wrong going on here and it's been happening for a long time. If you're not in their clique. If you don't understand office politics. If you have any kind of good in you. This place is not for You. You will not last long here. If you're a good worker they will use that against you and break your back then laugh at you and try their best to get rid of you because you're not like them. Management here would rather have a disgusting piece of garbage of a person to be your supervisor so that they fit in with their toxic agendas which is to make you miserable. Then the managers have their tools (coworkers that they use) to make your life impossible. This is a really great company but this service center needs a whistleblower. Dispatch supervisors are always giving grief to new drivers with their unrealistic expectations and thats why their turnover rate is very high. There is no Human Resources office here just in case you want to discuss something important. You would have to call corporate offices in Tennessee to discuss something in depth but it will not be resolved. It would only make you experience here even worse unfortunately.
