Duties

The automation engineer will be responsible for the design, development and implementation of automated systems to support production. This includes a variety in automation projects including: automated manufacturing systems, robotics engineering services or other related areas such as control system design, programming, maintenance, quality management, etc. This position requires an individual with experience working on complex industrial automation projects that require extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes, tools and procedures; ability to work independently while maintaining high levels of quality control standards; ability to understand all aspects of process improvement through training.

Detailed job duties include:

  • Develop and maintain automation systems for production.
  • Identify, develop and implement new processes to improve productivity and efficiency in manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure that all equipment is maintained properly at all times while maintaining quality standards.
  • Identify and resolve problems with existing or potential solutions.
  • Works closely with other departments on projects as needed; provides technical support when necessary.
  • Provide training/training opportunities where appropriate.
  • Work with others on project management issues such as asbestos and incident management systems, etc.

Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years experience with automation and/or control systems (electronics) - automation industry preferred but not required
  • Experience working on automated manufacturing processes is highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of the principles and practices behind industrial automation including process design, development, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance and support for all aspects of production automation programs such as: test procedures, data collection validation, etc.
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision
