In production control, it was an extremely stressful job. I had lost fifteen pounds within the first month of working there from the physical labor. It seemed as though that upper management didn't really care about the concerns of employees, as they tried to cut down on people and build up production the work load became near unbearable. Although it seemed that supervisors did try to make a difference there was not much they could do. With this happening there was also an increase in workplace injuries, and within the time I was there nothing was done about it. Overall though, at the end of the day I had a sense of completion and overall satisfied, if management could try harder to fix the problems that occur, it would be an excellent place to work.
Best place I have work with during the 47 years in manufacturing.
I retired in 2009 from Autoliv Electronics located in Goleta, California.
I was one of the engineers accepted to be transferred to California for the development and Management of all the new suppliers for startup of the Night Vision Camera program.
I was with them in the infinite stages of developing into an accepted
supplier for BMW in Europe. I held the position of Supplier Development Engineer/Quality Management. During this time I had the opportunity to be involved in training and developing all new suppliers for this division of Autoliv. Flir in Santa Barbara was their supplier and partner with Autoliv. Flir was the company that made the vacuum package for this new state of the art night vision camera.
Flir was also contracted with the USA Air Force in supplying our military with night vision cameras. This night vision camera would seek out any missile bases. So the Air Force could shoot them down. Flir was also one of our suppliers I trained in becoming an approved vendor for the Auto Industry.
The management is and were very good to work for. This management team respected their production associates and provided them with all the tools needed to build and test the units during production.
Autoliv was accepted as a production manufacture in 2005 for BMW.
Their production keep increasing year after year. In 2007, I believe, Autoliv were in the stages of completing their design of night vision 2. They were in the middle of the design and development
The atmosphere was good amongst the people i worked with.
I loved working for this company. I had great experiences, we had a lot of suggestions, we did kaizon drawings for people to win prizes and the manager would dress up as what ever the theme was for the drawings.
ProsThe suggestions we put in and a monthly, game task we had to win prizes, and the group ethics we had to get each cell on a upgrading scale.
ConsThe breaks where pretty short, but i dont have to much to say about the company they did me fine.
Management is a joke they are to friendly with some employees so they have to be hard on other employees to ensure the job gets done it’s just not worth the pay is great but the management lacks intelligence
Autoliv is a good company but the Ogden one has been ran into the ground. Favoritism is real and management does nothing about the hostile work environment. If racism, belittling, and being physically threatened doesn't bother you, than you'll be fine. The pay is mediocre, (you can make 13$/hr ANYWHERE) but the benefits are pretty good (40hrs personal time, 7hrs per month vacation, the option to buy 40 more hours of vacation, and 3 incentive hours every month and they offer decent insurance & retirement plans. The work is tedious, make a good playlist and keep your headphones in all day and you'll be fine.

Zu den schwierigkeiten in der Firma gehörte die Schichtarbeit.
very target oriented company and driven by customer demands. At times people work 7 days a week and 24 hours a day. Very demanding and do not care of employee well being.
Self learning place.. alot of learning oppurtunities

Questions And Answers about Autoliv
If you were in charge, what would you do to make Autoliv a better place to work?

It's a business. They do business things, like occasionally shaft you for no good reason, or cut corners that can be infuriating to deal with, but ultimately fit the business model better.
One thing I could absolutely do without is the nonsense positivity. Pretty much every HR department ever loves to do this, but the pencil pushers are always trying to convince the working body that the workplace is this great pastel colored bounce-house. I wish employers would respect the fact that we're here to work, and not try to convince us that there's some adventure to be had driving around in a drab concrete and sheet metal box. There isn't, and I would feel more comfortable if they all would stop playing pretend.
They also love to give out fluff rewards, where you accrue enough good employee points and you get like a travel mug or something. I hate feeling like my employer thinks I can be appeased or impressed with dumb knick-knaks.

Read the job description and if you think you'd be a good fit apply, set up an interview and they will test you before they hire you. They train many people with no experience.
