Fulfilling Position
A typical day involves training. I really enjoy I can do as much and be as involved as I want to be. Appear for position one weekend a month and roughly 2-4 weeks in the summer. Gives one a true ability to serve their country with great leadership and great teammates.

There is a lack of discipline and cohesion.
My experience in the Army National Guard was disappointing.
The low level of discipline and harassment that I witnessed was difficult to work with. I chose to lead by example by focusing on the objectives and reporting offenders, but I found my leadership was unable or unwilling to instill a sense of cohesion and camaraderie. Because of this, I chose not to renew my contract and leave the military.

Toxic environment but you get out what you put in
Overall a pretty toxic environment, and the good people always get out. The toxic people stay in and are usually in charge with few exceptions. Great place to build professional and leadership experience though. The ability to use tuition assistance has improved since I joined 6 years ago. You really do get out of it what you put in. A bad attitude will get you nowhere. You'll make friends for life.
ProsFree Lunches, tuition assistance
ConsWay more than one weekend a month and two weeks a year
