Overall Reviews at Applebee's

Work hard, play hard
I've worked for Applebee's for a total of 15 years. Overall, I totally recommend working for the brand, as it has very high standards that make me proud to say I work for them. However, it's a completely franchised brand, so you get differing expectations depending on which franchisee you work for.
ProsHighly recognizable name, nationwide

first job but insanely toxic and unfair
Overall, II learned a lot but I couldn't be happier to be gone. Nothing but a corrupt, failing company that only cares about their bonuses and numbers instead of employees and work conditions.

Change in ownership
Dine equity was a great company
When dine equity decided to go and sell of to licensors
That was the point you were not valued anymore
You became replaceable and just an employee number

I almost killed myself working here
I mean, it’s not the worst place to work? 5 Red Bulls and we were golden. Restaurant work isn’t for everyone. Very fast paced and to the point. The managers mood is what made the day great or terrible. You will become an alcoholic if you work here. 10/10 do not recommend. Thanks. I’m now dead for life. 86.

My experience in apple bees was good. The staff was friendly my manager taught me alot like also my trainer did. Something that made it interesting is the different diverse cultural of customers that entered.

A Summary Around a Difficult/Challenging Career
Applebee's over the course of many years has been very kind and courteous... I at some points through out the year wonder what direction they are headed in the future.. Obviously the restaurant industry like most businesses are results driven. Through out my career with them, I have learned to love the people I work with, the most enjoyable part of my job... However, in that same sense, it can also be the most difficult part of my job. A typical day in my career revolves around a 10-12 hour day if not more, there really is no room for delay as for everyday you must hit the ground running to get ahead. I have learned alot through out managing people and working with customers, what I've learned the most is how run a successful business and manage the people who help you run it. I love the restaurant industry as for its provided for my family, and helped me further advance myself in my career... However, I believe its time for me to focus on a career that revolves around me advancing myself further, compensation wise, and can provide me more structural time around my family, something the restaurant industry can very much lack. If it's anything the restaurant industry has taught me, it is how to run a business, manage people, and how to put in very long and stressful hours if need be...

Ok
Overworked and very busy, no designated breaks, felt rushed many times and no sense of flexibility for schedule. Very Understaffed so double work is required

If you need a job, DO NOT work here. You've been warned.
I'm an older military veteran, and have been in many kitchens since high school. Dysfunctional beyond belief. If you're old and slow, you're pushed around and called old and get the f**k out of the way. Training is a joke. 1 week and you're on your own. Most of these corporate grease houses are all the same. You're trained to hash out frozen, processed slop and expected to get it to the window in 5 minutes. I was a mid-line cook. Lasted a week. There are better places to work. Take it from an old school guy who served during the war on terror.
