Hours and travel
As a manager, I had a flexible working schedule, however with that said, I traveled around the country for the better part of the year. They pay generously if you can sustain the travel

Exciting and Challenging
• Provide leadership, support and assistance to on-train and station employees as appropriate to improve and maintain workplace safety. • Provide the highest possible levels of customer service. • Identify and verbally and formally recognize employees who provide excellent customer service. • Lead revenue and accounting procedures for Lead Service Attendants, including the proper completion of trip reports, FDA requirements, remittances and audits. • Maintain an in dept understanding of the Crew Base Manual, Service Standards Manual for Train Service and On-Board Service Employees, and general Amtrak Policies and Procedures.

My work was not appreciated
It's not the best workplace to work. I was not paid what I deserved based on my work experience. I did not get benefits because I worked as a contractor

Professional atmosphere.
My work is constantly changing. One day I could be managing interns or trainees and the next day I will be submerged in a project using different types of analytical software.

Review
Depending on the area that you work in, Amtrak is not for everyone. Working On Board Services keeps you away from home days at a time. If that works for you, the benefits are very good. I like my job and would like to advance but that is difficult.

Reservation Agent | Los Angeles, CA | Aug 27, 2018
Pretty decent job
Everyone had a clear title and work position, whether it was ticket agent, baggage handler, costumer service or whatever. Sometimes it could get a little hectic especially with trains coming and going. Overall, get to know you job and your role and you'll be ok...
ProsFlexible hours and rotating days
ConsManagement can be tough to deal with and scheduling
