Great if you like helping people
Overall its great place. People truly care about helping people. The workers and really nice. Management really cares about you and the team. I would recommend if you want to help people out in the community.

I become an ARC instructor under a provious employer and I appreciate the opportunity. Working as an ARC Instructor feels like you have a purpose to train individuals in how to help assist for the injured or possibly save a life of needed.

Direct Interactions-Disaster Dispatcher for American Red Cross
I am a 1099 Independent Contractor with this company. Been there for Two and a half years. I am now a Universal Agent and I also received a 1.50 pay raise. The calls are pretty easy-going once you get the handle of it. Training is easy with tons of helpful information. Meetings are held twice a month. When you are on the phones you are not alone when needing help, The supervisors are always there to assist. When you work hard you are noticed by the Manager's and CEO they will promote you to the Universal Agent status, which means you are working in all the departments and receive more money. If something comes up during your scheduled slot management understands just complete a Missed Shift Form. I have been with this company for a while, I do have a full-time job (Working-From Home) and I work with ARC during my free time and I will never give this job up.

Great Mission, but it can cost you your personal life!
While the organization is funded largely by donations, disasters, and biomedical blood services it is constantly realigning priorities to do more with less money. Pay is fair, but raises are attainable. The organization relies heavily upon its volunteers to support the Service to Armed Forces mission and everyday operations. When a volunteer is not available the staff must complete the task; in addition, to the main responsibilities staff perform (volunteer recruiting, training, and management; community outreach, program evaluation and reporting, workshop coordination and logistics, donor development, etc.Staff travel is 3 of 5 days of the week travel for community or required staff meetings. Expect to work some late nights and 3 weekends a month to attend to client casework needs, active duty military or veteran events, or to support other departments.
Good opportunity for entry level candidates needing experience, and have no family obligations, or pets. If you enjoy helping individuals, families, supporting the military community, and are open to working with diverse populations this might be a good fit (experience with homelessness, elderly, veterans, mental and physical health challenges, migrants and refugees, youth and adults in transition between employment, retirement, and seeking educational objectives are crucial). Your connection to the community and ability to network and maintain community partnerships will help you succeed in this environment.

Registration Training Coordinator
I really enjoyed my time at Red Cross. Not just working for my manager but also in the department I worked for at the time (Nurse Assistant Training). Although the health insurance plan could have been better to cover more of the medical disabilities I had, I enjoyed the work environment, laid back managers, and working within the community. Besides making an impact in the community the next best thing about Red Cross was the pay. I think the benefits could have been better but the pay made up for it.

Fun work days ensuring safety of swimmers
I highly enjoyed working with swimmers and teaching them to swim. It was a lot of fun seeing kids develop from non-swimmers to experts over the years.

Giving Back
In all jobs there is a climate that is created from all entities. ARC is what your level of giving back is. If you want to be compensated by monetary it is not a huge money making opportunity(non-profit), but if you feel that helping others and the inner gratefulness to be a part of something bigger than yourself this is the job for you. The people that truly enjoy being a part of the ARC are volunteers and paid members that truly have a heart to give. I enjoyed the benefits of helping others.

Serving can actually be fun... who'd have thought.
This is the go-to experience for volunteering in disaster relief. It may seem chaotic and disorganized, though the Disaster Relief Operations seem to somehow come together and end well.
One can move up quickly within the orgnization if they desire. This simply involves taking more online classes through the Red Cross' Vonunteer Connection.
Overall, this is a great expereince working with fantastic people.
