It was a great start in retail
This is better in terms of retail work than most because it is only shoes and accessories rather than clothes all over the place. You just need to be on the ball when it comes to theft and people trying to take advantage of return policies along with stacking sales that aren't supposed to be stackable. Otherwise, you'll learn how to multitask when many customers walk in at once, how to efficiently time manage when dadily tasks need to get done and how to become more of a people person and fine tune your sales skills.

Great Enviornment, very low pay rate
I've been with the company on and off for 5 years, as all positions from sales associate, cashier, assistant manager and visual merchandiser. overall a great company to work for, just low pay.

Productive hands on experience in coaching others to meet their goals
A typical day working at Aldo was a day of maintaining great leadership and developing great relationships with customers. I learn how to reach my personal goals as a sales manager but to also ensure that others achieved their personal goals as well. I really enjoyed my co-workers at Aldo. It was a great experience meeting a diverse group of people from different cultures. There was no hard part about my job. The most enjoyable part about my job is that I'm getting a chance build long term relationships with my customers and coworkers while meeting sales goals all at once.

Productive and fun place to work with
Typical day; everyones on the floor with a customer, showing shoe care to ones customer or ringing up the customers. I've learned a lot, having to do throughout the day, how much money we need to make the day/week. The management is alright... and the overall workplace culture is fun to learn about. If i would have to say the hardest art about the job is grabbing shoes from the high shelves and the most enjoyable part of the job is the customers and how excited they are about purchasing the shoes, other than that going on break.

nice place to work at, but can be annoying at times
I'm currently the assistant manager, and working here has been very rewarding as far as the amount of knowledge that I've learned. as far as the day-to-day work environment, its pretty laid back, but times when the district manager would make visits it gets really hectic and annoying.

Unpleasant atmosphere
I worked for the Aldo group for many many years and despite their poor management and unfathomable salaries, I always believed it would one day get better..
Unfortunately they ripped the rug up from me before I had an opportunity to leave willingly. At the time I didn’t realize that were doing me the biggest favour of my life and relieving me of the longest and most toxic relationship I had ever been in..
Aldo is a poorly run/managed company. They have all the wrong people in all the wrong places and do not know left from right. It is truly no wonder they are facing foreclosure. It’s been along time coming.

A fun environment, but workers are underpaid and undervalued
Like many companies, money is the bottom line. The priority was always to cut costs. Unfortunately, the first place upper management looked to accomplish this was with its employees. In my 17 months there, I witnessed countless layoffs and position cuts. I saw fellow workers get demoted and take pay cuts, and 3 months after my (voluntary) departure, over 75% of my department's middle management was laid off. Fun group of people to work with though and the offices are nice and include good amenities.

Would not recommend to anyone
No regard whatsoever for humans, no respect for employees. Management treats people with such disrespect and fire employees without cause and without notice or pay.

A typical day in Aldo's consist of interacting with the customers, making sure that their needs are met. As for stock, is getting the customers shoes and organizing the stockroom.
