Great company with wonderful employees to work with
I enjoyed working at Abbott. The legal department did not turn out to be where i wanted to grow. The workplace culture was great. The company encourages growth and advancement within most departments. My job changed when there was a reconstruction of the legal department and the requirements for my position changed. The division counsel whom I reported to needed someone who could work with litigation matters. I was hired to support commercial legal. I was no longer able to meet the qualifications.
Prosonsite cafe with great food options; encouraged women to excel
Consdepartment changes put me in tough spot

Solid company
I appreciated Abbott more when I left after a few years, after working elsewhere. I think I was just burnt out in what I was doing and lack of a career path.

They use mostly contractors to fill their positions
They use mostly contractors to fill their positions.
It's very hard to get a permanent role within the company.
They make you work overtime and they don't pay you for your overtime hours worked.

abysmal upper management
After working there 4 years I was transferred to a new group with no notice and placed under supervisors who knew absolutely nothing about what I was doing for the company.

Chance to work on interesting projects
Had a variety of R&D roles in two Divisions. Worked with some bright and talented people on interesting projects. Sometimes bureaucracy slowed things down, depending on department, manager. But overall, the scientists, engineers and managers were very bright and capable. Abbott does offer quite a bit of internal training.
ProsHigh quality employees.

PoActive and something you can be proud of. Feel a sense of accomplishment
I respected management. They were personal they would talk to you and genuinely saw what you were doing and often rewarded you with back pay. I remember i was doing a job that I was not being paid for and one of the management gave me back pay to make up for it. They never made a mention of it. My supervisor was my mentor that helped me many ways when I worked under him.
ProsAssociations with different people
ConsBreaks are short

The management is an absolute joke
The whole first month I worked there they didn't pay me. They screwed me out of my sign on bonus. They asked me to work in another position for higher pay and run material control and I ended up not getting the raise and doubled my work load. They DO NOT care about you. You are a number and that's it. we have many people who sleep on the job and the managers do nothing. Worse place I've ever worked honestly
ProsLiterally nothing, unless u want a place to sleep and make everyone's job harder
ConsEverything, Management, The shift changes, Incompetent people all through this place, If you're a hard worker then forget it
